Put your toy into a hangar, if it gets stormy...

Hi folks,

Mannheim: Rettungshubschrauber von Sturm verschoben - Rhein-Neckar - Newsticker - Morgenweb

A BK117 rescue helicopter was slightly dislocated from its plattform by a passing storm...

Ouch!

Maybe they wanted to receive a brand new H145 (EC145T2 in the real life) sooner than scheduled ... :}

Where's SiloeSid (surely not asleep?) when you need answers to such avoidable incidents? I'm sure he can translate the German manuals.

Efirmovich 21st Jul 2015 05:58

Or at least tie the blades down !

SilsoeSid 21st Jul 2015 06:04

Thank you tistisnot, as it happens at 15:41 yesterday afternoon I was asleep, besides it doesn't appear to be on a 'Helilift' now does it! :ugh:

Having said that though, just for you, clearly some wind limitation has been exceeded ;)

The loud and clear METEO warning RED than PURPLE levels was issued
on time for affected area....

Well seen the guys operating the machine did'nt own it or it
would have been inside!

TWT 21st Jul 2015 12:07

Was there an available hangar with space that the machine could have been put into ?

Art E. Fischler-Reisen 21st Jul 2015 13:51

Now, had there been a doctor or two sitting the front seats, that might never have happened..

SilsoeSid 21st Jul 2015 14:03

Nice one Art, but look at it this way.
If it was on a Helilift, which it wasn't, and the two doctors were sat in the front while it was being moved, how would the insurance people see the situation?

Anyway, I don't see how having two people in the front would have stopped the wind twisting the airframe on the platform causing it to fall off

However, if it was on a Helilift, then the sidewind limitation would have meant that the ac would/should have been moved in order for it not to be exceeded :ok:

That may be so Art, but that meme theory only works if it is on the same thread

So where's the unimportant detail

FC80 21st Jul 2015 15:51

You must be some laugh at parties, Sid.

Hughes500 21st Jul 2015 16:04

It is normally me that retires to the hanger when a storm is brewing / hits. EG Saturday just gone, when Mrs 500 found out that I had spent £ 2000 on a new amp and speakers !!!!!

Art E. Fischler-Reisen 21st Jul 2015 19:02

that meme theory only works if it is on the same thread
True, so thanks for mentioning "Helilift" twice. You have neatly linked the two threads. :D

You must be some laugh at parties, Sid.
Yes, but others might sleep!

Rigga 21st Jul 2015 19:12

Helihenry,
Actually, an EC145T2 / H145T2 is a MB BK117 D-2 in real life!

HeliHenri 21st Jul 2015 20:22

.

Hello Rigga,

where I live, I've never heard someone saying "I fly an MB BK 117-D2" so we don't have the same view of what is real life, nothing of annormal about it. :ok:

But you have to know that in all the real lifes, the H145T2 doesn't exist, AH is only selling the H145 and the EC145 :)

.

SilsoeSid 21st Jul 2015 20:25

True, so thanks for mentioning "Helilift" twice. You have neatly linked the two threads.
If you insist in being pedantic Art, it happened way before then, so you actually fulfil your own picture

Anyway, back to the thread, yet another avoidable incident.
