Assuming you hold an EASA licence, is there any reason you would need to change to a UK issued EASA licence?

Yes i have an EASA license.
I know that i can fly with it but, is it easier to get a job in the uk with a CAA one?

many thank for the link and for the comment.

No, if you only hold a CAA licence you are limited to what you can fly commercially - most people in UK have changed CPL and ATPL to EASA.

As I understand it with an EASA licence, the country of issue and the medical records have to be from the same country.

So if you left it all with Portugal you would have to find an AME who could issue a Portuguese Class 1 medical in the UK, or go back to Portugal every time to get a new one (no prob if you travel there regularly)

But if you changed the licence to UK issue you could do it with any old AME who could issue a class 1 in the UK.

Correct me if I am wrong........

An EASA Class 1 medical is valid whoever issues it.

You can fly in the UK with your current licence and get a medical from a local guy, no problem. It's just that your licence resides with your medical records, so if you need a type rating out on it, you would have to send it to Portugal. A few friends of mine have their licence based in Ireland.

It sort of depends on your qualifications and the type of job you are looking for I would say. That would affect your marketability and your approach.
