HELI-EXPO 2015

Let me get it started: what is the top 5 things you will or (would like to) do at HeliExpo this year?
Here is my list:

1_ see the Bell 505 and try to convience myself it is not as ugly as I thought
2_ look for Marenco Helicopter and see if they finally display a functional machine (after years of displaying mockups)
3_ Airbus Helicopter, the X4 will there be something new ?
4_ attend a couple of the manufacturer technical briefing
5_ go to disney world the weekend after

don`t forget, discount registration, the cut-off date is Jan 16

Top thing I'd like to do is have lots of students at my class...

  1. Obtain perspectives on the state of the industry, given the ~30% reduction in helicopter deliveries observed during 2014 and the additional pressure now being felt as a result of falling oil prices.
  2. Get program updates on the ‘missed’ 2014 milestones, including AS365 N3e certification, AW169 certification, AW609 PP3 first flight, Bell 525 first flight, CH-53K first flight, EC120 diesel first flight, Ka-62 first flight and S-97 first flight.
  3. Look for a mock-up of MD Helicopters’ new scout helicopter featuring a hybrid-electric power system, lightweight composites built using additive layer manufacturing techniques and proprietary NOTAR rotor-less tail system. (Or just this year’s rebadged 500. :E)
  4. See whether Scott’s – Bell harnesses the crowd-stopping spectacle of Hollywood’s latest and greatest high-def AV technologies and Cirque du Soleil's newest acrobatic display to out-do the 525 Relentless unveiling when showcasing its 47GT-6 prototype.
  5. Pay the obligatory visit to the local well-known attraction with its extravagant costumes, flashy stage shows, high entrance fees and fun rides (No, Rachel’s... :E).
For anyone planning to attend the show, HAI has put together a handy preview document detailing all of the special events, professional education courses and specialist sessions being held this year (including Shawn's 'Helicopter Aerodynamics without Equations' class).

For me...
Seeing the X4 progress.
Seeing a real Bell 525
Flying the Model 505
Seeing the latest Lyn Tilton mockup with additive composite technology.
Enjoying a plate of genuine beef ribs.
Not going anywhere near Disneyland and little obnoxious spoiled kids with Mickey Mouse ears.

Bar the X4, is anyone else aware of anything also being revealed .......

Composite Helicopters Ltd from NZ will have two of their new products on display....a KC630 with an RR300 engine and Their high-powered, high-altitude model, the KC650 with a LTS101 engine in a utility six seat configuration.
