Palm Springs

Hello.

I was wondering if anybody had any information on any golf courses in Palm Springs that will allow a private helicopter to land at for a golf trip from LA.

Any course names contacts or other information would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Landing sites

You could have a look in Helipaddy as they have a few sites now in the USA

Good luck with that one!

My experience is that it will take you a week just to sort out the insurance to land at a course.

Everybody with even the slightest interest needs to be indemnified on paper.

How about KUDD Bermuda Dunes which is in the middle of it all.

Like anywhere in the US these days make sure you know "noise abatement" procedures which are not published by the FAA.

Try operating in and out of Van Nuys without busting something!!

A lot of the courses are under the final approach of KPSP.

I have used Palm Springs and Thermal, (KTRM), in the past. You prolly will not get permission as a private operator to land at Golf Courses. Most in the LA/SD basin areas have shut down due to noise complaints.

RVDT is correect about VNY although the procedures are published, they do track all flights on radar and if you deviate you will get a nastygram in the mail showing your actual flight path:

VNY Helicopter routes and procedures

VNY Curfew rules

I would start off by contacting one the FBO's at Palm Springs Airport and asking them if they have any ideas. I wouldn't abandon hope without trying. Here's a link with everything you could possibly need to know.

As for Van Nuys airport went in and out of there twice, apparently messed it up, although all I did was follow ATC instructions, got the letters with "you were here, when you should have been here blah, blah, blah...." so avoided going there again after that.

I wish I could.... We take our restricted category Huey in there for annuals, that is always fun as they only allow you to fly the Trax arr / dep which always adds about 30 minutes having to circumnavigate the valley.
