Robinson R44 as transport category

Hi there all,

Is it possible to certify an R44 as transport category, or have you seen any country doing this? I know that FAA has this aircraft certified as normal category.

Thanks

There are many R44's operating on AOC in the UK if that's what you are asking.

Hey Nickolo

If you were good with a pair of tin snips, the R44 would fit the Long Wheel Based Land-rover Chassis, and would possibly better on fuel, as it is more streamlined than the old Landy, but remove the tail as well.!! :ok:

The category refers to the regulations that the aircraft was certified under. These doesn't effect the operators ability to commercially operate the aircraft. Transport category requires a good deal of additional equipment to be installed on the aircraft and requires different performance standards.

So in short, why would you want to certify an R44 under Transport Category?

Rick, I don't.... I just happend to find one, and I was wondering if that's even possible knowing the additional regulations governing the transport certification.

Anyway, I guess someone made a mistake here....
