Robinson R44 as transport category
Hi there all,
Is it possible to certify an R44 as transport category, or have you seen any country doing this? I know that FAA has this aircraft certified as normal category. Thanks |
There are many R44's operating on AOC in the UK if that's what you are asking.

Hey Nickolo
If you were good with a pair of tin snips, the R44 would fit the Long Wheel Based Land-rover Chassis, and would possibly better on fuel, as it is more streamlined than the old Landy, but remove the tail as well.!! :ok: Peter R-B Lancashire |
The category refers to the regulations that the aircraft was certified under. These doesn't effect the operators ability to commercially operate the aircraft. Transport category requires a good deal of additional equipment to be installed on the aircraft and requires different performance standards.
So in short, why would you want to certify an R44 under Transport Category? |
Rick, I don't.... I just happend to find one, and I was wondering if that's even possible knowing the additional regulations governing the transport certification.
Anyway, I guess someone made a mistake here.... |
