Philippines helicopters

Has anyone done any commercial flying in the Philippines? A search shows a few operators, but not many.

Cheers BM.

With 14000 islands you'll probably find you're offshore a lot of the time :ok:

There was a hangar at Puerto Princessa Airport on Palawan all logo'd up with CHC when I was there a couple of years back but didn't see any helicopters.

I guess having import duties of 100% probably doesn't help the industry get started either.

CHC is just waiting for the word to move the aircraft ( S76) from Manila to Puerto Princesa to start a short term contract there. CHC ( CHPI) has been operating helicopters ( S76īs) in the Philippines for over 14 years.
They had a long term contract with SHELL Philippines that they lost last year to HNZ with 139īs and since then have been picking up short term contracts.

14000 islands? more like 7000 at low tide , shirley?

The Shell contract in Puerto Princessa in 1993/96 with 1 S76 was great. Lovely little town, good hotel, good pubs & eating places & safe! Life in Manilla was very different. I think Shell found some gas but in very deep water but maybe there is oil around too.

Have you tried Air Gurus (I think that's what they're called). Operate out of Manila. Some 206's and an A109 if I'm not mistaken

Yes, a lot of gas, and then built the Malampaya platform and a 500km subsea pipeline to Batangas. A second platform is due to be installed next year.

For the OP, one of my FB friends flies for this outfit: Lionair Incorporated - Private Jet, Executive Jets, AirCharter, Jet Charter with Guaranteed prices

He seems to spend his whole time flying Filipina celebrities in bikinis between beach resorts in Cebu, and then posting photos on FB of him with them!
