Survival suit advice wanted
Hello everyone, I'd reckon there would be a lot more rotary guys than us fixed-wingers wearing survival suits in the cockpit, so here I come for some advice. I'm planning to fly a single-engine aeroplane from Czech Republic to Iceland and back via Denmark, Norway and Faroe Islands, and so am looking for a survival suit. I'll probably be staying in Iceland for several weeks, so I suspect buying one would be cheaper than renting. Not aiming for the latest and greatest, merely for the adequate and reasonably priced, possibly used. What are my options? Any recommendations (positive or negative), pointers, offers, etc. will be greatly appreciated!

These are pretty good. Pretty expensive but what's your life worth?

Be careful with the Mustang stuff.
I know you may be "private" but someone may ask you if your equipment is "approved". With a lot of Mustang gear it is not "approved". |
Viking Survival in Denmark is gernerally used by North Sea operators. Adverage suit cost approx. £1200. Not sure if they rent.

Hi Ultranomad,
Check out Ursuit, it might be an option. Lightweight Gore-Tex that goes on top of normal clothing and under your flight suit. Fly Safe.. |
Renting Suits
Hi …..I rented many times last year from a company in Southend, Uk. They are called South Eastern Marine Services (SEMS) AEROSAFE. Their number is on the website SEMS Aerosafe - Survival Equipment for light aircraft All the staff there are extremely helpful and they have suits that can be posted.:ok:
