Looks like something bent the upper wire cutter, seen in the fourth photo as deformed upwards. Wire strike maybe?

Good eye! I was sure it struck something. From the last 2 pics, it seemed to land very close to some high tension wire structures but in the preceding pics, it doesn't seem so and I hesitated making those assumptions. Obviously the tail rotor is missing but not sure if that was from the initial impact or from the landing. Strange how the pics turn out, perhaps angle and optic illusion.

I still can't get over the apparent discrepancies of the photos. On most pics, the crash site appears to be well clear but on some pics, it appears so close to the wire pylons. I know telephoto lens have that effect of bringing the background forward but it just seems so weird.
By the way, this aircraft supposedly was yet delivered to the Army/Air Force. It's being tested by the factory's pilots. Look at that long wire on the left tail boom. Probably some rotor tuning/ vibrations measurement gear. http://pic.house365.com/newcms/2014/...6d01caf937.jpg http://i0.sinaimg.cn/dy/c/2014-03-05...319_DAW4aN.jpg http://img.pingxiaow.com.cn/gundong/...5024112684.jpg http://images.qianlong.com/mmsource/...0140304111.jpg |

Long wire left side?
HF Radio aerial |
I admit that I'm not an expert on the Z-10 but in most aircraft fitted with the HF, it is normally rigid and an actual permanent structure. Notice the clothes hanger/line looking structure on the left side of this MH-47 and the right side of the tailboom of the AH-64D. Those are the HF antennas.
