In a separate incident a helicopter belonging to Helisud was fire-bombed with Molotov cocktails while parked on private property at Porto Vecchio in Corsica. Thankfully no one was injured. Un hélicoptère détruit par un incendie volontaire | La Provence |
How tragic. R44 I think.

Billionaire in an R44?
Usually their personal insurance won't allow it. |
Very sad - but somewhere a notaire is rubbing his/her hands with the prospect of the fees for unravelling the legal consequences - me cynical about (French) lawyers - never.

Have you seen what notaires charge here - and I had already commented that the event itself was very sad, as it is.

Very true. In this matter french notaires and lawyers are light years behind their anglo saxon counterparts. ATN |
Local news coverage here:
Crash en Gironde : l'hélicoptère localisé dans la Dordogne avec le corps de l'enfant à l'intérieur - SudOuest.fr According to some sources a previous owner of the estate also lost his life in a helicopter accident. Sadly I have to agree with Wander's and ATN comments about notaires in France, they have a different role to their counterparts elsewhere - they act as more of a Tax Collector than an advisor vs. their UK counterparts and their scale of charges is absolutely eyewatering. |
Which helicopter?
Many news on Tv, radios, newspapers but the type of the involved helicopter is not reported.
|
A fine wine blogger did a story on the owner of this vineyard in 2010 (same person who was reportedly flying the accident helicopter). In his blog, the owner gave the blogger a tour of this estate in his helicopter. At the time, the blogger published a photo of the helicopter....a yellow R44.
Don't know if it's the same helicopter today. I'll try to find a link to the story... |

Mr McFarlane,
The BBC reckons that the former owner was flying the new owner around the site, with his son, while the new owner's wife waited behind saying she "was frightened of helicopters. If there were three on board and four were offered a ride, then it has to be an R44? |
Plus an interpreter on board when it crashed; so four up.
But, I suspect it was the aforementioned R44 and the interpreter went after the wife declined the offer... Fly safe, Sam. |
Je crois que ce la est l'helicoptere de Monsieur Grégoire ,

RIP to all these very unlucky people.
I may be wrong but since the sale will not complete unless the heirs of both parties want (and I doubt they will), notary will not receive the big commission and will have to work instead on the relatively simpler inheritance matter. |
