Looking for some helicopter switches
Hi all
I was wondering if anyone can help with tracking down some helicopter switches. I need two to add to my MD500 collectives for my MD500 Simulator. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps2b1fb871.jpg The switches I am after are, the one that is shown in the image and the other which is located on the main and co pilots collective. Regards Rhys |
Looking at the photo I would say that the black 'toggle' on the switch can be removed from the normal switch toggle. From there you should be able to find a switch that fits the bill. I would take a guess that it's a spring loaded off type. Only a guess.

Looks a BIT like a beep switch? You might be able to find something similar if not identical.

Mmmmm ...
.... Looks a BIT like a beep switch? You might be able to find something similar if not identical.... It is in fact the Nr beep switch (momentary On) and the missing one is the starter switch ... :hmm: |
Hi again, can't help with switches but how is the project going? Anymore pictures you can post?

It is in fact the Nr beep switch (momentary On) and the missing one is the starter switch ... Rhys 01 That panel you have is a little screwed up. The square knob should be on the landing light switch. The one missing. The N2 Trim (Beep) had a curved serrated knob. FYI the starter button is on the very end of the collective. On the 600N (on which I had the misfortune of being the engineer on the second one in service) they replaced the N2 Trim with the FADEC Manual Switch. Can you imagine a pilot who was a habitual N2 beeper hitting that switch? (Not me) A few seconds delay and all of a sudden MAX Fuel Flow! Overspeed anyone? Mentioned it to the MD people to be met by a blank stare! Mindless! Rhys 01: Your image shows the collective mounted switch array (all two of them lol) but .. with what is normally the landing light toggle in the place of the rotor RPM governor trim 'Beep switch'.
As RV stated, the 'standard' 'Beep' switch has a "curved serrated knob" as per the images below: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2...llective+1.jpg Hughes 500 collective-mounted switches https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-L...llective+2.jpg The flat-sided rectangular toggle (on the right) was the 'standard' Hughes switch for the landing light https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y...llective+3.jpg And on the left, RV's 'serrated knob' RPM governor Beep switch Worth mentioning that there are numerous 'home made' modifications, a common one being a 206-style landing light switch instead of the rectangular-shaped one. Also, some 500's (especially those with role equipment fitted - typically military and public service aircraft) have additional collective mounted switches as per below: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-d...llective+4.jpg Some 500's have additional collective mounted switches for special role equipment and or additional instrumentation |
Yeah, I see the switch is located in the wrong slot cheers for the heads up
I have a full set of MD500 pilots and co pilots collective but as stated missing the N2 Trim (Beep) switches. The head of the collective where the switches screw into is small and normal toggle switches are to big to fit, hence trying to track down some original ones Hi nomorehelosforme as soon as I have an update, will post some pics its not to far from been finished :ok: If anyone can help with switches I would be very grateful Cheers Rhys |
