Landing Pad in Glasgow

Hi Guy's just been told by Glasgow Airport that they are not accepting Helicopters with skids at the present, apparently they turned away 2 Lynx this morning !!!

Does any one know of anywhere else that we could land and park overnight a Enstrom 480B please with possible Jet 1 available

Need to be as close to the centre as poss, going to the Rugby, the Ospreys v ??? got to give the Heliport a call in the morning, to see if we can go in, just reading pooleys and it says that they require 72 hrs PPR

Glasgow Airport can only be used by Helicopters with wheels at the moment !!!

JTobias 19th Apr 2013 09:12

Hi

An Enstrom 480 has ground handling wheels.......

Joel ;)

Glasgow Heliport (SECC)

"No civilian single engined aircraft"

Tailboom 19th Apr 2013 09:44

Even though we have ground handling wheels that's not acceptable, have to be permanent A109 eg.

Heliport says we can go in but can't park overnight on the weekends

Tailboom - I think you'll find it's a long way to push from the runway...

Floppy Link 19th Apr 2013 11:42

Amendment to my previous, just checked in the office...

Glasgow Heliport (SECC)

Use an ex-mil Gazelle still painted-up in camo and wear olive overalls and you'll be fine. :ok:

How very dare you! :\

Tarman 20th Apr 2013 15:02

Cumbernauld is probably your best bet. They have Jet A1.

With the new M80 by pass now open the City Centre is only 20 mins away by taxi.

Just dont expect a smile and a warm welcome !!

Well Cumbernauld turned out just fine, 3.2hrs from Cardiff a very relaxed airport just Airfield Traffic as radio on the way in, a 20 min £30.00 taxi ride into Glasgow

Not really: Sydney (Mascot) banned non wheeled helicopters from the bizjet/light aircraft apron years ago, justifiable since a large helicopter hover taxiing around light aircraft and pax can create quite a hazard with its downwash.
