EBG R22 rolled at Redhill

An EBG Helicopters R22 was rolled at Redhill yesterday.
Crew believed to be OK thankfully. Aircraft didn't fare so well though.

First solo flight ?

SilsoeSid 12th Apr 2013 12:51

A question even google can't settle on, 'Is crew singular or plural?'

John R81 12th Apr 2013 12:57

I am told R22 G-EROM, 1 POB, student practicing in the hover square. Fortunately only minor injury suffered. Not first solo flight.

Satcop 12th Apr 2013 14:21

As JohnR81 has posted the basic details here's a picture.

Crew is singular, the plural is .. crews.

Can one use crew to apply to a single person? I'm not sure. I am reasonably confident you can use the phrase 'one crew member' though.

LOZZ 12th Apr 2013 15:13

Ouch. Glad the crew member is OK.

Seeing this I was wondering whether there is an SB for R22s to have a fuel tank bladder upgrade fitted and if not why not? Not applicable due to different construction; would add too much weight proportionately or smaller volume of fuel typically involved?

Unless I'm getting too old, 'crews' would apply to two or more separate crews of separate ships.

Crew is both singular and plural and refers to whom ever is driving or serving drinks on a single ship, whether that be one or ten people. Of course I would imagine if it is one person in question they would probably not be serving drinks?

Satcop: good to see piccies like this - another lethal weapon removed from the streets. :ok: Even better news is that it tried its best but didn't hurt anyone this time.:D

LOZZ - I believe that new Beta IIs from April 2013 will have bladder tanks installed.

I assume there will be a kit coming out to retrofit onto other models already in the field.

topendtorque 13th Apr 2013 01:48

First I've heard of bladders for the R22. and have only seen a very vey small number of them burnt, unlike their big brother.

They which fell so hard that fire and instant Mort for the crew were indisputable.

Most of those hard hitters though have survived fire free.

topendtorque 13th Apr 2013 01:56

Actually, all jokes aside it would be interesting to see a close up of the head, how it separated and where did the blades end up?

Peter-RB 13th Apr 2013 08:35

Hi TC

I think a little extra work along with a good service, and it should be back together.. possibly

Is it customary to stomp the divots after flying?

g-mady 13th Apr 2013 08:59

I flew many hours in that machine... Very sad to see it like that. Glad all are ok

Don't see the problem, no one heard of T cut and a bit of elbow grease ?;)

FSXPilot 13th Apr 2013 18:44

It's a really safe R22 now!

Soave_Pilot 14th Apr 2013 21:23

Cough 14th Apr 2013 21:29
