Helicopter for heavy lift operation.
Now we're considering to have a new heavy lift helicopter.
we're flying AS332L for it now. What helicopters do you operate for such purpose? And please let me know if you have any recommendation for that. |
A Kamov 32 maybe.
|
Yep,
Ka32 goes approx. 90-100 euro per minute in sling ops Super Puma needs at last 120 euro... |
Depends upon the type of operation...
1. What does "Heavy Loads" mean to you? 2. What are the flight times with the load? 3. Onshore or Offshore? 4. High Altitude or MSL? 5. Expected flying hours? 6. Who is doing the maintenance? And so on and so on... Itīs like asking "which is the best car"....... |
Kamov 32 is really a good heavy lift machine. The only problem is the maintenance. I have flown it the last 4 years and it is a really good machine. Some time is difficult and take a little bit to get spares.

Hueyracer,
A hint from the OP..... we're flying AS332L for it now. |
Jap.
Doesnīt mean anything... Why are they "replacing" them? If they arenīt-why the question? If they are-why? |
Thanks for replying to my question.
We use AS332L for, 1. carrying load from 2 to 3 tons . 2. power line construction, logging, and carrying equipments for construction in mountain area. 3. onshore, in mountain area (up to 7000ft MSL) 4. usually 500 to 700 flight hours per year. We have 2 super pumas now, and are considering to add next helicopter. I think its better to buy same one, but I worry about increasing maintenance cost, especially parts price, availability and lead time. Thats why I was asking what do you use for such purpose. |
A nice sling load machine would be the K-Max.....
Have never flown it...but a friend of mine did...... Should be able to lift 2.8 tons on the hook (afair)..... Just keep in mind that adding a different helicopter to the company also requires additional training for engineers and pilots......so itīs not really "cheaper"..... |
The way I see it the puma is the best machine for the job and also the most versitile, if you only haul 2- 3 tons? with a machine that can take 4 i can see why you guys think it is expensiv.
K max 3 tons, 80 kts no pax. Kamov 5 tons few pax if you compres them first. Puma 3,8 tons 18 pax long range... For me it is the puma that wins. |
Hard to beat a Seaking. Lots of 61N's out there too.
|
I also think that you already have the best machine for the job....unless you want to change to Mi-8/17īs......(cheap, but high-maintenance)..the same applies to S61īs.....most operators need 3-4 helicopter, to keep 1 flying....
|
What about the new Super Puma AS332Ci which upgrades the short fuselage Super Puma and reduces costs to compete with the Mil Mi 8. Already ordered for logging.
|
S64E Aircrane......flew them for 9 years. There is no better logger built.
|
No Better Logger
Quite right, Helilog, and good for heavy precision load placement as well:
