Bristow orders 12 EC175 at HeliExpo13
Story
...aircraft type into our global fleet from 2015 Anyone know what market specifically? Interesting news nonetheless. |
|
I have to wonder how an a/c that is 700 kgs heavier than a 139, but with basically the same engines, perform?
|
I thought that Bristow ordered these years ago as the launch customer but then cancelled? Seems they have had a change of heart so must be impressed with recent EC PR :E
If it were my money I would be ordering the 189. |
also says they have agreement to purchase 26 S76 D models to.
|
Perhaps they traded some surplus 225's for the 175's.:oh:
|
Adroight - You clearly do not care much about your own money. If you had actually flown the EC175 you would not be quite so dismissive!!
But I am willing to be proven wrong so please let me know what experience you have of the EC175 and the AW189 to be able to make such a statement? DB |
About as much as you considering that neither are in service at the moment.
|
Well I guess this subject will divert the 139 bashers for a while :ok:
Since AW sorted the T/R issues, she's become a pretty nice type to fly with awesome power margins... If only they could address the poor software with the fixed plank FMS. :ugh: |

I/C |
Adroiut - I have flown the EC175. I can tell you all about it if you would like to hold a more "informed" opinion!!
Better still, visit the EC website and see what the Bristow's boys at New Iberia say about the EC175!! The best helicopter I have ever flown!! DB |
Double Bogey,
Exactly how many hours did you "fly" this aircraft to be able to give such an informed soap box reply? The best aircraft you have ever flown? Those sort of sensational comments usually eminate from guy's with substantial time on type.. I'll give you it looks very stealth and I'm sure its software will beet the crap out of my 139, but come on... :{ |
DB - I have flown a Huey Cobra for 20 mins too but I do not consider myself an authority on the machine. Good fun though.
EC is EC as Bell is Bell. The philosophy does not change. I have 3000+ hours in EC, 3000 hours in Bell and almost 2000 hours in my AW139. I know which I prefer. If it is my money I will spend it wisely. |
" 3000+ hours in EC, 3000 hours in Bell and almost 2000 hours in my AW139. I know which I prefer."
Hardly fair to compare Astars and Jet Rangers to an 139. |
A late change of horse for SARH perhaps - strange the number of aircraft seems exactly what is required;)
Perhaps someone has seen the flaw in a SAR helo (139 and by extension 189) that sits 8 degrees nose up in the hover into wind, has poor ground clearance and a small cabin:ok: |
Torque unlimited.
I have never flown an Astar or 206. |
"never flown an Astar or 206"............pity
|
Are you girls enjoying your p155ing contest?
|
Never flown a P155 either.
