Just a brief note to mark the passing of Stewert. Long career as a helicopter engineer working for just about everybody everywhere. If you met him you might not remember the face, but the the unique stataco laugh was unforgettable.
Another character gone and the industry a little less colourful.

Ah sh!t..............that genuinely sucks.

Worked with Stu here in Macau that many years ago, always had fun.

Funniest SC memory.............he comes home to the "company flats" late one evening, in less than ideal condition, decides it's a good idea to make himself some french fries in the kitchen (puts on the boiling oil) and then proceeds to fall asleep on the sofa. Short time later smoke is seen billowing out of said flat window, building is hastily evac-ed, people on the street wondering wtf...**** happens.

RIP Stuart.

Had not seen Stu for years until one night in a random bar in Jakarta heard the famous laugh. Thought to myself, there is only one person who laughs like that, turned around and sure enough there he was.

Take it easy mate & RIP.

How sad that another of our industry's characters has left us. I shared a house with Stu when we were with Aerocontractors in the early 90s and will always remember his famously infectious staccato laugh. I last met him when he was back in Nigeria as an auditor.

Stewert died on the 13th of August in the Philipines where he was living.
Looks like a stroke or a heart attack. He was 64. Still working in the business.

A memorial service was held weekend before last in his home village of Saltfleetby in Lincolnshire. Followed by beer in the Crown. A good send off for Stu.

Stated to be reliably totally unreliable by a close friend.

A little harsh you might think.

However his son told a story of an unaccompanied vist to see him as a child.

Arriving at the airport in Abu Dhabi with no Stu in sight he managed to get a taxi (quite enterprising for a young lad) and headed off to find dad. Arriving at security he explained who he was looking for. After a minute the penny dropped and the guard went
You mean Mr AHUH AHUH AHUH.

Let in to the compound he found dad propped against the bar.
Only comment " You made it then" !!!

I think they wrote the phrase burning the candle at both ends after meeting Stu, how he ever made 64 beats me. A larger than life character in many ways who had a hell of a career in the helicopter business working the far and middle east, africa and europe.

When someone goes like this you regret that you didn't make better use of the time when they were around, you cant get it back.
