May that man killed by the tail propeller go peacefully to Nirvana

Cant there be a better education for the people doing marshaling your helicopters or the police be helping?

Thank you captain vertical freedom for all your pictures and your valuable rescue efforts to my great country Nepal. You have very danger job so we are proud of what you do for us all.

Hey VF what's that I see hanging from the cockpit roof? I thought you scoffed at people wearing helmets!! Have the Health & Safety Fun-Detectors arrived in Nepal or has Mrs VF been lecturing you on correct head dress?

Fly safe as ever.:ok:

Namaste RotorBabe

I too hope He goes directly to Nirvana OmOmOm

The ground Marshaller did have basic training. But he lost focus on his own safety, considering only the passengers standing behind approaching, sadly to his own demise. The Police here working in the Villages & remote regions do not have any basic training regarding Helicopter operations, but are always keen to be helpful.

Thank You very much for Your kind words, it is my duty & honour to do the Rescue work that I do & I do with pride......I actually Love & enjoy my work here too.:ok:

On Shanti Shanti Shanti

Yippeeeee

G'day Madbob

hehehehe Brother I never scoffed at Helmets, just I thought it's more comfy without :p & purely a personal choice  But as I get a little wiser (not older) I think more about the what if's :uhoh: even though I've already had 2 successful landings following engine failures but sheeesh, it is probably better to be erring on the safer side with PPE  As for the Missus = I'm stone deaf :ouch: nope neither company nor CAAN say anything re PPE :*

At work I fly multi-million dollar machinery :D but after that a Helicopter Pilot's transport is.....🙈:ugh:🙈

gcpilot8 9th Sep 2014 18:37

I hope that is your other half's transport.:E What happened to the Bullet?

Also, doesn't the company provide transport to and from the airport?

All you're missing is some sirens to breeze through the gridlock of Kathmandu:E

G'day gcpilot8

I'm afraid not, the Missus has her own Honda Dio  that click is the company provided means of transport for me :ouch: the Bullet is politely parked up indoors still waiting for me to ride her in Delhi :{ the Sirens to jump the gridlock is my Flight Crew ID card :ooh: worked every time thus far :ok:

Cheers to Life :)

Namaste VF

Seems like the plank drivers are treated better when it comes to transportation by company in Nepal.:8 They get picked up and dropped sharing ride with Flight Attendants :E

Stay safe in the air and on the road.:ok: Probably the road is more hazardous in Kathmandu than the airspace:\

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti

Hey GC....errr well a Suzuki Bongo Bus built for midgets with no AC with MiniBus Captain provided; is my alternate mode of wheels :{
Not really, I dunno maybe the remote high places we fly is pretty wooly & hazardous, much more than the roads here, which are quite cool by comparison, to most other countries city roads :ooh: (no road rage here)

Air speed - Air speed - Air speed...it is Your Life line, never ever loose it, unless; You absolutely need too ie; slinging, filming, very short final, confined area....!!!:ugh:

Cheers to Life :ok:

Captain Vertical so many rescues, is there no one to help you to chek on the sick patient?

thank you for your service to the mountain people of Nepal

Gemini Twin 16th Sep 2014 17:42

Hi VF, what was growing at the pick up site in the last series? You can see a whole bunch of cut off stalks sticking up through the vegetation.

krypton_john 16th Sep 2014 21:36

Looks like bamboo.

That or VF harvested his private stash. <ducks> :)

Thank You for Your kind words. Hmmmmm sadly this the way it is done in Nepal, Rescues are done here with:

1. No Medical Attendant
2. No Crewman
3. No Defibrillator
4. No O2
5. No Stretcher
6. No Support of any kind once departed VNKT
7. little to no info re Patient
8. location coordinates often wrong

I have had 4 Blessed People die in my Helicopter inflight here in Nepal, whilst inbound to the Hospital for the above reasons. Some might say that this method is better than nothing, this is certainly true...........yet, it is however high time for CAAN, Hospitals, Insurance Companies to act on bringing a higher standard of Rescue service to this great country :O

Vertical Freedom 20th Sep 2014 03:32

Huge crowd at the footy field, people everywhere, not enough Police to guard my TR so the Best landing I thought create one & right beside the road was this huge drain/erosion block built perfect to keep the Tail clear :ok:

so now I've added another T onto my SWAT checks. Tpeople, Termination spot, Tail (where Ya gonna park it) overhang a ledge wherever & whenever possible, next option away from the gate, PAX, public, bus, car etc.(doesn't eliminate the i factor entirely, but reduces the chance of :ouch:
