How do I add another helicopter type rating to my CPL(H)?

Happy New Year to you all.

I have no doubt I'll take some abuse for the question I'm about to ask, but I've looked and looked and emailed the CAA and still can't find an answer, so...

How do I add a second type rating to my JAA CPL(H)? I mean, I understand the training/test requirements etc, but how do I physically do it - I can't find any form on the PLD website that pertains to simply adding a helicopter type rating.

Please help - I fear I may be losing my mind.

Thanks.

You need one of this.

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG1173FF.pdf

When you do the type rating test the examiner will fill this in and then he or you will send it to the CAA.

They should send back a new type rating page for your licence.

Brilliant - as simple as that!

Many thanks!

You can also visit them and do it the same day by using their counter service, if you're in a hurry, still need all the forms though.

..best to get there for no later than 0900 or you could have quite a wait.

...when I was there last week to pay a fortune to have my UK ATPL(H) downgraded to a JAA CPL(H) I was first through the door at 0830. I then found that the daily tickets started at number 7 - it appeared that the others had been collected the day before. 5 other folk sauntered through the door after me (don't know what happened to the other one) and were seen earlier than I was. If I'd known that you could queue-jump by briefly turning up the previous afternoon I could've saved myself a considerable amount of waiting.

T&B

I was told categorically last month that they would not allow that.

They open the doors at 0800 and I have more than once got there at 0800 collected my ticket and then headed off for breakfast.

They don't start serving at PLD (or L&TS) counter until 0830 though.

Perhaps they were all in the canteen ?

In fact guess where I am off to tomorrow for 0800 !

If they start serving brekkers at 0800, then you've answered your own question. :ok:

Cheers

In addition to the SRG1173 and 1187 forms, don't forget the 'Course Completion Certificate' - you'll get nowhere without it!

the CAA website is quite useful to.....:ok:

The first few tickets appear to be handed out by the guys on the main desk, if you are booking in before PLD opens.

0745 arrival got me ticket No1 a few weeks ago.
