Cheap Vibration Health Monitoring
It struck me the other day that smartphones have got an increasing amount of peripheral uses and their audio and maybe motion sensors might be capable of making a cheap (non-approved) Vibration Health Monitoring (VHM) solution?
Curious if anyone's already researched this area? |
I understand that a small avionics company is about to release an Android App that can be used to do MR tracking and balancing. Haven't seen it myself yet.
Apparently the sensors (which come as part of the deal) are connected via Bluetooth to the phone. Tracking and balancing is not the same as vibration monitoring, but it is not too dissimilar. |
Wouldn't such a device have to be installed at/near certain components depending on the airframe?

Caveat Emptor, you get what you pay for...:ugh:
