VFR trip along Croatian coastline and Montenegro
Next month I'm taking my boss from Poland to his holiday location in Montenegro.
We're planning to head south via Czech - Austria - Slovenia then follow the coastline of Croatia. :) I'm trying to stay away from the major airports as much as possible. So I'm looking for helicopter-friendly places along the route, preferably in nice surroundings, for food and fuel (JetA1). Also info on local VFR rules, do's and dont's are very welcome. Thanks in advance! :ok: FTF |
As far as I know the major airports in these countries are "the little places". No jet anywhere else.

My recommendation for you is to use LDSB Brač airport in the middle of Adriatic,
50% discount for helicopters on landing and handling is common on all Croatian international airports. You can use also LDRI Rijeka on Island Krk or Pula LDPL, Jet A1 sure and AvGas should be there... LDLO on Island Mali Losinj is good option too.... LDSP Split, LDZD Zadar and LDDU Dubrovnik, try to skip over, because of high load during summer time  Unfortunately we can not invite you, to land on other islands, regulations are still non European friendly, but we hope and looking for change soon....:* In case you need more, PM please :ok: |
Thanks for the replies. 9A, do you happen to know a few 'fancy'
restaurants or other places worth visiting, on the coast or islands, where I arrange to get a PPR for landing? :ok: FTF |

where I arrange to get a PPR for landing? Concerning private flights of foreign registration our dear CCAA.hr knows just one common point: "not possible", "safety reasons" :} After long, long fight we finally have decent helipad regulations from Mar 2011. but now 2-3 y to make paperwork and build something.... Out of airport landing regulations non existing, and announced from Air Traffic Law issued in 2009. Only rule now "what is not allowed by regulations is forbidden" Last working date for out of airport (including all island non registered helipads) was 01.05.2011. , new recent date is 01.06.2011. and draft is not yet out so :oh: If and when, for sure, will invite you to land here: (Hvar, Island Hvar) http://helifor.eu/heliblog/wp-conten...adHvar_now.jpg View from resturant to helipad is here: http://helifor.eu/heliblog/wp-conten...norama_ssm.jpg Panorama of same helipad is here: http://helifor.eu/heliblog/wp-conten...norama_wsm.jpg (resturant full right, building) http://helifor.eu/heliblog/wp-conten...hvar-007_2.jpg And in few years on all this locations.... hope you will be more than welcome, but now :{ http://helifor.eu/heliblog/wp-conten.../AdriaticH.jpg |
Thanks again for the info!
The plan now is to use LDRI for fuel and customs, then pickup the ADRIA 2 and slowly head south towards Brac Island. Stop there for food/fuel/sleep, leave a bottle of something for 9APlus and continue to Montenegro then next day :ok: |
Sounds wonderful, and I hope one day to fly around those parts myself; perhaps 9Aplus' sites will be open by then.
Don't suppose you need a spare pilot? :p |
 Great....
drop me PM when you know date, we can prepare all for you on LDSB, we have reliable agent there :ok: |
Our friend FullTravelFree, refuel on Pula LDPL, today

...the word (and pictures) travel fast in Croatia.
Highly impressed with the beautiful coastline and islands, Adria routes should be on every-ones 'bucket-list'. Now it's time to discover the food and beers of Croatia :ok: FTF |
