EC120. Fadec or not?

Could someone please clarify if the EC120 has Fadec?
Wikipedia says yes. Other sites say yes. Some say no. Eurocopter website says nothing.
I am beginning to wonder if it is an option?
Many thanks.

No it doesn't and it isn't an option.

RotaryWingB2 2nd Mar 2011 12:17

Curtis is correct. Manual control only.

I don't see where you saw that Wikipedia says it's FADEC equipped. I looked and couldn't find any reference to that. Anyway, I confirm that the EC120 is not FADEC equipped. Like the AS350-B2 and the EC-145. All other current Eurocopter product are FADEC controlled.

First clarify FADEC. Old B3 not fADEC-single channel EECU, B3+ FADEC-twin channel EECU. EC120 has no EECU thus no FADEC. She carries a FCU as said before similiar to the AS350B2/Arriel 1 thus hydromechanical fuel control unit. Will she ever get the Arrius with EECU or newest with FADEC? Your guess is as good as the rest of ours. Personally I think she will be unbeatable with the new Arrius with FADEC but will it warrant the extra cost?????

No FADEC but so what?

No problem with EC120 starts if you use the right technique. And a short while back at our field a FADEC equiped machine toasted the engine when FADEC malfunctioned and the pilots wern't running the start (in case of FADEC fail). So, would not have happened without FADEC.

What am I missing?

(actually, that last point is a question: what am I missing not having FADEC?)

EC 120 is equip with a ARRIUS 2F engine which require manual control.

Eurocopter South East Asia ... thinking without limits.

OK. Thanks all for the responses. It doesn't then, despite some saying it does. That's good enough for me.
