working for gulf helicopters

anyone working for gulf helicopters, whats the roster, pay and conditions for co pilots.:ugh:

Hueybluey 17th Feb 2011 13:33

US$184/day. Must have IR and either B412/212 or AW139 rating. Little chance of employment without either of these ratings. 6/6 if you have 139 rating. B412 rating will see you do 8/4. Of the 8 probably 4 in Yemen and 4 in Doha.

Work 6 days a week so pretty good for hours building.

xtremalsound 19th Feb 2011 07:57

are the hiring right now? I sent my details some time ago and I never had a answer.

Kind regards

Is it copilot or a Captain paycheck?.....i heard that that changes a lot depending what department of the company you're working for (IE Sar or Oil Business)....Cheers....:ok:

2leftskids 19th Feb 2011 10:45

$184/day???? Or is that for the guy that cleans the windscreens??

Nubian 19th Feb 2011 11:50

US$184/day
I take that to be per-diem, right?!

Seriously, WHO the f..k will work for that kind of money a day, (which is btw, less than half of what I was offered recently flying a brand new B3 single squirrel in Africa....+all expences covered) even IF you would be provided with the typerating????

Don't you guys (that consider flying at these rates, and provide own TR)need food and have bills to pay? Or has the bottom really fallen out of the industry?

Time to get the CV in order for the BIG yello M then...

Canadian Rotorhead 20th Feb 2011 00:39

Yes indeed, that looks more like a per diem rate. If anyone accepts that, they need their behind kicked.:=

Hueybluey 20th Feb 2011 03:44

$184 is for copilots, Capts are almost triple that.

xtremalsound 20th Feb 2011 07:42

Hueyblue, are the hiring?

Best Regards

the delaminator 20th Feb 2011 16:39

There are a couple of things to keep in mind here.

1. Gulf had a policy of hiring in the Muslim world whenever possible. It's easier to get qualified FO's in Egypt and Pakistan than Captains.

2. Because they are hiring out of third world countries, $184.00 USD per day is pretty good coin.

3. Like all of the Companies in the sandbox they pay foreign guests only what they have to. They paid the janitor in Doha when I was there about $300.00 USD a month.

4. Gulf pays pilots what they have to and they pay on time. It is a good place to build time on offshore but it is not exactly a fun place to work.

5. It's been a few years since I've worked there so if something has changed my apologies

funfinn2000 20th Feb 2011 22:19

A GHC co-pilot on 8-4 can make almost $60,000 a year, which is better than what North sea coeys get when ya consider it's tax free and only working 8 months of the year.

Some people will work for it, I did it. If you can get more money for flying something else well good for you, but don't insult or make negative comments on the people that go for it. Not all of us were born with silver spoon up our ARSE!!

Good luck to them,

Nubian 21st Feb 2011 08:10

Funfinn,

Seem to have stepped on your toes, sorry I've big feet!

However,

Must have IR and either B412/212 or AW139 rating
Now last time I checked price(talking only about those buying it themselves) on those ratings, they don't come cheap.......so, if you can afford to pay it from own pocket, and ONLY make that kind of pay, then I'm sure the spoon is not too far from reach..
There is always those that go for this(some even offer to fly for free:yuk:..) paying for their typerating, and is then at the end of the day/stay not ''netting'' too much.
Yes, you're effectively paying for work.........
As for pilots that are rated out of own pocket or not, well, DON'T EVER complain about low salaries in the industry for the rest of your career! :ugh:

Another way, would be working for that much and GETTING the type, being bonded for X-time.

Delam,

Yes, I do appreciate your low-cost country argument, but the ad still ask for type-rated pilots, unless they're of the spoon up the arse guys as FunFinn mentioned the only option I recon would be ex-mil then, and then fair enough.

the delaminator 21st Feb 2011 16:39

Pilots from third world countries are pretty much always ex-mil at Gulf.

I don't remember a single Western trained pilot flying as FO from my time at Gulf and that was mostly because of the money.

For the record I'm pretty sure all the other local companies (ADA,Falcon, ect) have similar policies.

Technical Instructor Pilot

Anyone have any inside information on this job?
Sounds interesting but is there much flying or just class room?
Anybody work the 6/6? Do you like it?
Thanks

outhouse 10th Mar 2011 01:48

Maybe it's to support the GH AW 139 simulator courses.

sanddancer 10th Mar 2011 07:21

funfinn2000...your maths is out.

So, Co-Pilot scales are OK are they?

GHC pays $60000 (about £37000 at todays rates) for working 2/3 of a year. So if you add a quarter(ish) to account for tax that means you get about £46000, over two thirds of a year (35 weeks), which means you are paid about £1300/week.

North Sea operators pay £45000 - £60000 for half a year (equal time rosters). North Sea range is about £1700 to £2300/week.

GHC Captains obviously win IF they are being paid three times the Co-Pilot salary.

Really, i think you are a bit out there, for a co pilot! As for equal time/amount of days varies, all depends on which company!

Then the tax man will spank you + travel/accom etc :uhoh:
