Firefighting Helicopters, Signal Hill, Cape Town

I thought someone might find these pics of a recent fire on Signal Hill in Cape town interesting. There were lots of helicopters! :-)

I was an extremely windy day and I thought it was quite impressive.

Was this the first fire of the season?

Seems some training is needed along with some maintenance on the bucket of one. I'm also surprised at the number of UH-1H's.

SA is evidently a bit different.

There is definitely some strange behaviour there.

Downwind drops, into wind drops, all different heights, some going left, some going right, leaky valves..............................

The Bambi showing off its slight problem of no matter how much you fill it 20% will blow out of it by the time you get to the fire!

Wondering about the common sense in the extensions to the Bambi bucket cable so it finds the tail rotor perfectly. There is a reason the cables are the length they are. Go standard length or longline (100') but not that length for sure. Watch a Bambi when you drop with a bit of pace on.
