Army Blackhawk crashes, apparantly on approach and 9km short of the runway at Coleman Barracks Airfield near Mannheim, Germany.
3 confirmed fatalities.

"police say that the transport helicopter, type UH-60 Black Hawk, crashed into the forest near the Viernheimer Dreieck Autobahn intersection at around 6:20pm. It was dark and raining at the time of the accident. The crash site is only a few hundred metres away from the highway. According to N-TV, the helicopter exploded and burned after the impact."

"Der Transporthubschrauber vom Typ Black Hawk UH 60 stürzte nach Polizeiangaben gegen 18.20 Uhr bei Dunkelheit und Regen in einem Wald an der Autobahn 67 zwischen dem Viernheimer Dreieck und der Anschlussstelle Lorsch ab. Die Absturzstelle befand sich nur wenige hundert Meter von der Autobahn entfernt.
Laut Informationen des Nachreichtensenders n-tv explodierte die Militärmaschine nach dem Aufprall und brannte aus. Insgesamt seien rund hundert Einsatzkräfte vor Ort gewesen. Später habe das US-Militär die Einsatzleitung übernommen.
