another australian fire accident.

From another rural fire website.

Last night, a Bell 204 helicopter appears to have suffered mechanical failure whilst operating on a fire near Eugowra and the pilot was forced to make a heavy landing resulting in significant damage to the aircraft. The pilot, the only person on board, sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to hospital for observation/treatment. Indications are that the pilot will be OK but expected to be in hospital for the next week or so.:\

Not good news to hear, Does anyone know whos B204 it was, or who was flying

It's been reported on another website the helicopter is VH-UHD (formerly registered as VH-WTT)

It was Tim Turners old WTT, now with different rego. Apparently operated by David Miles or similar name. Pilots initials are CC for those who might know him.

Heard from source that rumour has it he lost tail rotor but remember thats not confirmed.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the purpose of modifying the tail and adding strakes?

but what is the purpose of modifying the tail and adding strakes?
Means the Tail Rotor uses less horsepower.

Makes sense, cheers:ok:

Mmmmm ....

..... Means the Tail Rotor uses less horsepower.

Yes to a certain extent .... what it really does is to improve the aerodynamics around the tailboom which in turn allows for reduced T/R pedal inputs.

This also reduces the stress on the tailboom structure (which on the 205/212/412 series is significant).

For more info try ..... BLR Aerospace - Performance Innovation.

Cheers ...:ok:
