Converting my IR(A) to IR(H)

Hello everybody!

I'am desperately trying to transfer my IR rating from fix to rotary wing. I'am currently rated on AS365 and A109. The only option I've found so far, is flying 10 hours with the 109, which FAASA in Southern Spain offers for 30.000€. I find this way to expensive and I would really appreciate it, if any of you could give me some advise such as where to find a school in Europe with more reasonable prices.

DGAC in Spain requieres the 10 hours to be flown on an FTO, do any of you know if any other European country allows these flight time to be done directly with an employer?

Thank you very much in advance.

Cheers!

Have you tried to call Intercopters and Aerea in Madrid? I am not sure if Aerea is still having the leased A109 from Inaer, but Intercopters sure does have their own 109 for IR training.

Cheers.

Tiger helicopters at Shobdon use the 109 for their IR course. I have no idea whether they do an IR(A) to IR(H) course. Must be worth a phone call / e-mail though.

If you want to go up north you can do it here;

Arlanda Helicopter AB

in Stockholm, Sweden, on a Bell 206 at a cost of about 15000€ för the 10 hours, plus the cost of the exam.

Hi 902Jon,

the 109 simulator is no longer at Tiger Helicopters -- they guys who own it took it away in the summer after a major falling out with the then owner.

SO if you want any sim training on a A109, you can go to Italy -- they have a full motion A109 simulator, or you can use the 109 sim in the UK at Veritair Aviation Academy at the Cardiff Heliport. Home. It's a fantastic piece of kit, and a chap called Duncan McDonald will be delighted to give you a "freebie" taster if you turn up at the Cardiff Heliport.

It's cheaper that the Italian one, and (of course) much much cheaper than doing it in a real 109.

(they also have a AS350 sim as well, so you might get a go on this too).

hope this helps,

Big Ls

1500E per hour for a 206?? Sounds strange, an AS355 is cheaper!

alpenjunge 6th Nov 2009 19:25

And how much is an hour with FI on an AS 355?

Smike 2nd Dec 2009 17:41

Well, i've been checking Arlanda's SE IR and i can say it ain't that cheap at all. For their price you would be able to get an ME IR on a 109 for a slightly better price.

I heard there's an FTO at Portugal running the SE course on a 206 but, after extensive net search i haven't been able to find them. If anyone can help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Are you sure that it's not an EC135?
