Three Robbie R44 flew from US to Europe via Greenland
This month three R44s landed near Moscow after a small cross country.
They started from Robinson factory, crossed US and Canada, then reached Greenland, flew over south coast to Kulusuk and then Iceland, Faroe and to Norway. Some nice photos and their route can be seen (sorry, text is in Russian): here. http://misha.users.photofile.ru/phot.../112609042.jpg Group leader is Dmitry Rakitsky, one of the most skilled and talented Russian general aviation helo pilots. Three others are private pilots who own these three new helos (delivery literally ex-works). Nice journey :ok: |
Cracking picture, bet that was an awesome trip !
:D |
Amazing trip :ok:
Spacibo for posting ;) JB |
Interesting leg from Kulusuk to Reyjavik - 400nm if I remember right. How did they do that? Or did they stash fuel up the coast a bit?

I'm suprised Frank permitted it!!!!!
Last I heard you couldn't even depart the factory while carrying a passenger. That got so manny nanny rules it's sickening. |
I met them in Nuuk, GL as they where filling up fueltanks, jerrycans and jars with 100 LL.. No secrets about the range, just lot of fuel stuffed everywhere..
Good job:ok: ! wiisp |
I just love the safety with those flotations device they have on their helicopters :suspect: ..

Their longest leg over water was about 3hrs as far as I remember. They had a "experimental" 15 gal. aux fuel tank installed on the back seats for the ferry. http://www.helistars.no/Images/a%20g...alley%20wl.jpg |

Great piccie - one to send to the tree huggers? :E |
Great job! Must have been a fun trip.

Stunning photos, we are looking at doing a ferry trip with an owner from the US or Europe to South Africa. If a R 44 can do it, then I guess a B 206 should walk it.

Doing this next month in an R44 - Wick to New York...
Gonna be fun! Fly safe, Sam. |
