More UK Scrotes

Sounds like it. Hardly vandalism by some bored kids....
Just had my own machine broken into - all the panels were left open (I've never spent so long doing a check A). Kids stole an iPod, first aid kit, fire extinguisher (?) and two torches. Luckily, the police recovered the first aid box and SOCO found DNA on it, so here's hoping... Little ba***rds.

Toptobottom

Sorry to hear that. Hope you catch the little ba**ards.
What machine and where are you based?

Thanks Joel - it was parked at the Rugby club in Letchworth, where I regularly used to leave it. The idiots even tried to start it :ugh:

PS Joel - I PM'd you a while back with my co-ords!!! Will re-send them.

PPS 206 Jock - if you're reading this, I'm looking for another site in that area if you know of anywhere else?!!

airborne artist - I'll give you a call tomorrow; the suspects were spotted as I lifted and the subsequent chase got quite exciting! The police want to run a story in the local paper but I'm not sure the CAA will be so sympathetic...

More UK Scrotes

If anyone in the UK is offered a cheap Garmin 296, it might be mine! It was one of several items that were stolen from my machine a couple of weeks ago; an incident that has now surfaced on Sky News.

Luckily, the report omitted the two mile cross-country chase before I lost the little toe-rags in some woods (but not before I managed to get a couple of photos of them)...

PS if you're in the CAA, the 'hovering over the estate' bit was a bit of poetic license by the reporter, everything was strictly in accordance with Rule 5 :E

JTobias 15th Oct 2009 12:15

Hi Captain,

I've taken the liberty of reporting it myself here Dirty, rotten bas**rds!! .

Don't be concerned about the CAA, I'm sure I was in the area at the time and you were definitely not in breach of any Rules ;)

Joel :ok:

TheOptimist 15th Oct 2009 12:48

Were you the fella flying down the road at 10 feet, all the time throwing bricks out of the window?

FloaterNorthWest 15th Oct 2009 15:18

The report on the Sky website says the aircraft was unlocked. Is that true?

Cancel my last, just read JTs blog. Good old press!

JTobias 15th Oct 2009 15:24

I always try to provide an accurate representation!!!!:ok:

Police Hunt Teenagers Who Tried To Take Helicopter For A Joyride In Hertfordshire | UK News | Sky News

Is that a file photo?

206 jock

Unfortunately I only managed to get a decent photo of one of the suspects before they both ran away. However, if you do happen to bump into anyone in the area that looks a bit like the person below, please detain them and call me immediately. I'll come straight round to give them a good seeing to - from Top to Bottom ;)

One youth is described as white, aged about 15, and was wearing a grey and white hooded top.
Ah, that narrows it down then - should have them in no time;)

Merlin21 16th Oct 2009 07:38

maybe it's about time we started fitting immobiliser's to our helis,
just in case!;)

I know, I'm surprised they haven't been caught already - especially as there was another yoof who was "wearing a camouflage top". Can't be more than 2,000 of those in Letchworth...

In fact, plod recognised one of the suspects immediately. We're expecting the DNA results to come back from forensics in the next day or two (the first aid box was recovered), so they'll have the proof they need to actually do something. Unfortunately, I don't think that will be very much - and the scrotes know it...

JTobias 16th Oct 2009 11:02

I think the best idea would be to work on some form of re-habilitation for them. Can I suggest that we offer to introduce the offenders to the pleasures of helicopters. More specifically we can introduce them to the dangers associated with these machines.

For instance, we could

* demonstrate to them (practically of course) why inspecting the main rotor head whilst it is in motion might be dangerous.
* show them the danger associated with walking behind the machine whilst the tail rotor is spinning
* demonstrate the inherrent danger of autorotations whilst a passenger is hanging out of the doors
* not hanging onto the skids whilst low level flying over a lake

I'm a firm believer in re-habilitation of offenders and would be happy to participate!

What do you think ? ;)
