Student, instructor killed in fiery helicopter crash | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

Sgt. Bob Ray of the Washington County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old flight instructor Douglas Doty of Beaverton and 32-year-old student pilot Thomas Hagner of Hillsboro died in the crash.
I used to fly N956SH at flight school and I did my checkride at around the same time as Douglas. He quit his old job and moved to Oregon with his spouse to pursue his dream as helicopter pilot :/

the helicopter was upright, and there were no ground scars leading to the wreckage. The skids spread outward, and the main rotor blades bent upward about 18 inches from the hub
Trying not to speculate, but helicopter aerodynamics points towards a low MR rpm coupled with high RoD.

RIP.
