R22/R44 Datcon

On most R22's the Datacon starts with the engine, therefore 2,200 hours means 2,200 hours engine time, flying time around 10% less for start up and shut down. R44 Datacon activated on collective therefore 2,200 hours on Datacon is actually 2,200 flying and around 2,400 hours on engine. Am I missing something or does that mean Lycoming are ok with 2,400 hours in a R44?

Thanks

You are not missing anything and Lycoming is ok with it. The only time required to be recorded for maintenance purposes is flight time and that starts when the skids leave the ground. Engine run time on the ground doesn't count. If an operator chooses to go more conservative and start counting flight time at engine start, that's fine too, a bit unusual, but fine.
