Anyone know the info behind this?

looking at the caption in one picture I can only say:

Drama in the air ... one of the Augusta AW139 helicopters.

Rather odd, maybe some real information will be posted later.

I wonder how long it will be before some wag says "No wonder he couldn't land, cos he was reading a manual instead of concentrating on where he was going".

Oh bugger, I just said it......... Sound really exciting stuff. If that is headline news, it suggests that things around Sydney are pretty quiet otherwise!

Mmmm ...

Without more intimate info (from the crew themselves) we are not likely to find out ..... and this looks to me like a bit of a "wind-up".

What sort of electrical problem did they have ? .....

Certainly referring to the QRH (Quick Reaction Handbook)was the correct thing to do .....

Methinks Teefor is right ... "a too quiet night in Sydney".

Right thing

I dare say the Aircrewman reached for the Emergency checklist after the Pilot did his thing!! To me it appears the crew did it by the book.... :ok:

well done!!!

Difficult to read between the lines and see the truth. Was it a DU fail, or maybe AHRS/ADS?

Bad weater, pilot can't see the ground...x 2 so diverts...and the problem is? Just going on what the papers say tho....

Is it me or does the article allege to the 139s not having air conditioning? Can anyone of the Aussie Pilots on this forum confirm or deny this?

The '139 passenger cabin can very quickly become "very warm" without air conditioning, I would be surprised if anyone in the full of his/her senses allowed any EMS related activity (or any passenger activity) in the 139 without air conditioning.

we are talking about NSW Ambulance Service here, so your assumption about senseless is well founded.
