AS350B with low skids and pop-out floats?

For all of you out there, a question..

Can you fit pop out floats on a AS350B with low skids and does anybody know where there is a pic of one?

there's a few on airliners.net dude.isn't "your" machine already so equipped (minus bags and bottle)?

Oooh intriguing...who might you be?

It may be but I wouldn't know how to check!

I was curious about the low skids though, all the ones I'd seen were on high skids. Thanks for the site reference, some nice pics on there, you were right!

Thanks

I've flown a BA with low skids and 'çigar-style' pop out floats.

Check out Apical as well.

Dart might be your best bet!

glad to be of service!

be sure to do the maths for W&B wont you? my calcs say that with a tank of gas plus floats she'll only lift 2 blokes what with her heavy paint and finish.

unlucky that you're stuck with the ill planned 80kg penalty from that particular faux pas.

have you ever thought of suggesting a lightening exercise?- now that would be money well spent i suspect. There must be a very considerable mass of rarely used radio nav clobber, wiring and aerials.

actually I've just got the real figures and it's would be a single seater dude! eek!

Hi Feathering Tickles,

How did you calculate the floats weight? Do you have the calculations?

As an aside, if it did have them before, how useful would it have been then, before the make-over?

RM , Cal can confirm but I believe Apical and Dart are now partners .

southerncanuck 24th Oct 2008 15:20

neil, correct on apical / dart being one, but for tech questions, best to go to dart correct. if buying a new set, contact dart

I don't know about a B model, but there used to be dozens of D models flying around in the GOM with floats and low skids. Since the fuselage is pretty much the same, I don't see why there would be a problem with the B.
