Increased hems load in Sussex

Had a long discussion over the weekend in re the closure of A and E and other high dependency depts in Sussex. The official was adamant that HEMS would be able to handle the "rare" real emergency transfers say between Royal Sussex and say the nearest neuro dept. As I remember, Helis for Royal Sussex have to land at some distance and use an ambulance to transfer to the hospital. Is this still true? The Official said that roof landings may be arranged. I know this to be bollocks as I have been on the roof of the tower block and looking around at the various blocks there is nowhere that could be adapted. Am I wrong?

When I was working there it was land at East Brighton park and ambulance transfer to A + E, for both H900 and HMCG. H900 pilots seemed to think that the car park outside A + E (RSCH) would be plenty big enough but not many escape routes if it all goes wrong and the consultants would have to walk a bit further. That was before all the building work they ve done now... maybe roof of one of the new buildings would work? Long walk/run to A + E thou.

Guess also depends on whether using police or hems AOC?

Seem to recall that those types of transfer were a regular occurance too...
