So it can even happen to the very best - a solemn warning to anyone who wants to just go and give it a go because helicopter aerobatics look cool.

Glad you are OK Dennis - aeros are nice, just need to work on the landings:)

"Glad you are OK Dennis - aeros are nice, just need to work on the landings"

AND--welcome to mountain flying--not the ones in the UK--they don't count..

More chips on the CIA's fire... The campaign Against Aviation goes from strength to strength :{
No one over 6 will be allowed to levitate soon :=

Hard luck Dennis, glad your OK. That display really takes your breath away :ok:

jellycopter 14th Jun 2008 06:41

Good luck Dennis. After 1000s of hours everyones luck runs out sometime as i know only too well myself. JJ

Senior Pilot 14th Jun 2008 06:48

Dennis,

Sorry to hear of your mishap: hopefully you will get straight back "in the saddle" and be just that touch older and wiser for the experience ;)

Glad that you're not seriously hurt :ok:

Flying Lawyer 14th Jun 2008 07:09

Bad luck Dennis - but pleased you're OK which is what really matters. :ok:

Look forward to seeing you displaying again soon.

Dennis - Oops!

The TV lady said it though: "The show must go on". :)

VfrpilotPB/2 14th Jun 2008 08:38

Wow! that could have hurt, but one of my alltime hero's is still able to shoulder the blame, .. What a man!

I 'm sure gravity had a hand in that.

Glad to hear you walked away from it ok Dennis :ok:

Did the reporter say you are a champion acrobatic pilot, does that mean you also do some acrobatic moves inside the cockpit while you are flying your aerobatics manoeuvres?

Greetings,

Thank goodness Dennis is fine.

A tribute to the strength and safety of the 300 though.

I was only reading in 'Pilot' last night that the compression spring dampers in the skid design, and energy absorbing structure beneath the seats, make the 300 much safer in a heavy/crash landing scenario, and has prevented a lot of serious injuries..

Holy sh*t! Fate having a last try after not getting a look in for 56 years. But, now you really have done it all Dennis...

Tough guy! That was a hard impact. Luckily, the best seem to survive the mishaps more often too, and walk away :ok:

Aser 14th Jun 2008 11:51

I'm glad you are ok fellow ppruner!

Best regards
Aser

Troglodita 14th Jun 2008 14:38

Glad you're OK Dennis.

I'll always remember how we looked forward to your Check Rides on our 300C and 206's at Lakeside in the 80's - we always learned lots from you, but you never showed us that manoevre!

Glad you're OK, Dennis.

That's all that matters.

ppheli 14th Jun 2008 15:54

I still remember your rather-quick-but-perfectly-executed run-on landing on the grass at the Castle Ashby champs all those years ago after you had the TR problem in the Enstrom Shark.

Just like then, great to see you get out OK of this one.

There's another report on the KSL tv station too - check here
