UK Weather Training Courses

Related to the helicopter safety evenings, I am talking to the Met Office about running some aviation weather interpretation course for helicopters pilots.

Can we have a show of hands, so I can see if there is enough demand for them to put the course on. They will be chargeable and I need to give them an idea of group size(s) so they can give me an idea of cost.

It'll probably be cheaper if we go to Exeter, but I will try and persuade them to come out to a more central location also.

appreciate what you said about the cost... but would be helpfull if you could give a rough idea as that will determin numbers too.

I suspect many people would be interested though?

DeltaNg 12th Apr 2008 11:37

sounds cool

Clitheroe Kid 12th Apr 2008 13:59

Me too. Would prefer the North West, but will travel.

DBChopper 12th Apr 2008 14:06

Yes please, VeeAny.

Redhill-based but prepared to travel.

cholmondeley 12th Apr 2008 14:18

V interested prefer South Central

Ioan 12th Apr 2008 19:14

I'm up for it. Midlands area would be easiest for me. Nice one for organising it

Whirlygig 12th Apr 2008 20:05

In theory, I would also be keen but Exeter would be pretty tricky from Norfolk, even if I flew down. Actually, I reckon I could drive it in less time than it would take me in a Schweizer!!!

Just hope that the nice man from the Met Office could be persuaded somewhere more central!

Cheers

Whirls

You can never learn enough about weather, count me in.

Whirlybird 13th Apr 2008 08:26

I agree that you can never learn enough about weather. Count me in...but only if it's within a couple of hours drive of the Midlands; don't have time to go to Exeter or similar.

Pandalet 14th Apr 2008 09:38

I'm interested, but cost and location will be the final determiners for me, unfortunately.

HeliCraig 14th Apr 2008 15:01

Gary dependent on exact date / time / cost / location you can count me in!

Especially after yesterdays bizarre weather - knowledge is power and all that.

Helinut 14th Apr 2008 15:11

At slight risk of thread creep, I am looking for a decent weather station (not specifically for aviation use). Does anyone have any recommendations.........?

kneedwondean 14th Apr 2008 15:30

I'd be interested in that.

McBad 14th Apr 2008 15:40

Also interested potentially, depending on dates and cost.

M.

(Prefer Gloucester or Cardiff but could do Exeter at a pinch.)

ManOnTheSticks 14th Apr 2008 16:19

Got my interest too! Exeter preferred but willing to travel.

JTobias 14th Apr 2008 16:40

I'm in, would also prefer North West but will travel.

We use the Vantage Pro2 and a Ceilometer and Vizmeter at the office yet still last nights weather was rather confusing.

KNIEVEL77 14th Apr 2008 20:31

Yep, me too Gary.

VfrpilotPB/2 15th Apr 2008 05:51

Yep me too, .... I would however suggest EGNH, almost Central to the land mass of GB!

Invest £1k in a modern automatic weather station that can transmit a reading of all parameters indoors to your pc, say, every ten minutes (like mine).
Alternatively (and much more cheaply) just go outside and have a look.

Helizoom1 15th Apr 2008 08:10

Count me in...Surrey area would be good!

Ms Squirrel 15th Apr 2008 12:37

Good idea, and to quote the old adage..... "you don't know what you don't know"

bladewashout 16th Apr 2008 07:07

Count me in, travelling from south of the Luton zone.

JBL99 16th Apr 2008 13:28

Gary, I'd be up for this too and Exeter is fine with me !

teeseetoo 18th Apr 2008 14:05

Please count me in. Midlands would be nice but willing to travel further.
