S-61N Stored at Longside Peterhead
Hello All
Was wondering with the current shortages in helicopters is that S-61 that has been stored at Longside Peterhead still there or been re-build. I think it belonged to CHC. Thank you in advance :) |
It was g-bejl and was permantly deregistered a while back , although I have heard it may be being sent abroad to be used for spares on a damaged machine .

Definitely roaded out of Longside a while back.

G-BEJL looked like this about a year ago.

May one ask what was wrong with it?

No idea, but it had been on the ground for a number of years. Don't think it had flown since the late 90's. It had certainly flown a few hours - close to 40,000 I think- my dad mentioned it had already clocked up a fair few hours back in the mid-80's when he worked at BAH.
When I took the picture above, last year, the airframe was virtually stripped, although the cockpit and forward avionics bay was fairly complete. Did wonder if it was being kept for a 'rainy day'. |
Used too much when new?
There is nothing wrong with it, just need the will and motivation to get it going again. Remember these guys? http://www.airliners.net/open.file?i...781&tbl=year19 |
Six weeks ago is hardly "a while back". BEJL departed 17 or 18 October by road for Liverpool docks with reported destination Canada for spares use.

Cheers Chaps.
