"Well i'm pretty certain bond knew who the people were posting on here! They seemed to know who i was!!!!!

And if anyone who got to the final stage but weren't selected want to know why! Well you never will, it's against their policy to give feedback!!!

Shame, if i'd known then i could've spent the £700 on something else!"

To be fair Snowy, that the interviewers read Pprune was almost a guaranteed certainty  As I recall thats something I pointed out a lot of pages back :uhoh:

"Shame, if i'd known then i could've spent the £700 on something else!"

Guess you're not intending to apply to Bond ever again then. :ugh::ugh:

Just because you didn't get feedback doesn't mean you learnt nothing or that the experience wasn't useful :hmm: Guess it depends on your perspective :(

Guess it depends on your perspective :(
Yeah it does - and no i won't ever apply to bond again!

To be honest i personally believe that any company should give you feedback if you weren't successful at the final stage. It just seems professional!

Maybe your date of birth gives you a way a little? Doh:D

To those who didn't get on the sponsorhip scheme, the main thing is to keep plugging away. Out of the 3 offshore companies, there's a reasonably regular requirement for pilots due to new contracts, or people leaving. The experience requirements for the applicants vary quite a bit as well depending on the availability of pilots, so don't be put off if you didn't make it this time.

A lot of it is to do with supply and demand - which means it's down to luck if you happen to apply at a time when there is an urgent need for more pilots.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone who wasn't lucky this time.

Whats the latest goings on here?

photex 15th Jan 2008 11:41

helicrazi - As far as I know, all applicants have been picked and the first lot went off to US recently to begin training.

I assume they will be using Bristow academy?

snowy_owl 16th Jan 2008 13:03

The first january course was moved back to next year! so in 2008 it will only be may(?) and september - and yeah its bristow academy, FL.

Iain-M 27th Jan 2008 17:04

Does anyone know if the cadets come back from the States with an ATPL(H) or CPL(H)?

If a CPL, are Bond going to sponsor them through the ATPL exams once they start working in Aberdeen?

Whirlygig 27th Jan 2008 17:11

They will come back with a CPL(H) plus ATPL(H) theory credits (as do most people who go to Bristow Academy!!). Then they will train for an IR(H).

An ATPL licence has hours, experience and multi-crew requirements before it is issued - check LASORS for details.

Hi folks,

Does anyone know if Bond are going to be running this scheme again this year?

Did any posters from Rotorheads get selected for the 2008 courses?

Cheers

Does anyone know if Bond are going to be running this scheme again this year?
No idea, but I'd imagine a company of Bond Offshore's size (the smallest of the three NS operators) taking on 12 new co-pilots within the space of a year is quite a big commitment. So it might be a few years before they run another round of selection... What are peoples opinions- is 12 new co-pilots a big number to be taking on? Will that be enough low hour recruits for the next couple of years? Or, will that number not make much of a difference to them? Will they still require low hour pilots to join them? Lets not forget they have 2 new machines joining them this year I think or is it 2009?

g-mady 9th Apr 2008 14:59

Didn't the last round of selections state no current pilots.... Words like "no ATPL theory credits"

Meaning that your were over-qualified if you had anything above a PPL?

And im assuming most of us are CPL's on this forum so we're therfore all over-qualified???

I already have a CPL/IR or ATPL for helicopters. Am I eligible to apply?
No. This is not a Bond job application but a selection process to identify cadets for an ab-initio training programme that must be completed in its entirety. Those who already hold the ratings this course is designed to achieve are not eligible, and this restriction includes those with non-JAA ratings.

I have already completed some or all of the JAA ATPL theory exams. Am I eligible to apply?
You may apply conditionally, but you must complete the course in its entirety, including retaking the ground school and the 13 JAA exams. This will require approval from the aviation authority under which you originally took the JAA exams and it is your responsibility to obtain that approval in writing, preferably before Stage 2, and in all cases before you could be considered for Stage 3 interview.
As long as you didn't mind doing them again ATPL theory was allowed!

Yup this year, one in june and another near the end of the year.. I think their building a new hanger for the 225s..

snowy_owl 27th May 2008 17:00

Hey hows it going everyone!? So who's started training yet for the 'mighty' bond!!!!???

ScotiaQ 28th May 2008 06:12

EC 225 Arrives

The first EC 225 arrived at the weekend (G-REDU). Two more to come....G-REDR end of June and G-REDT end of July.

I've never understood why they want ab-initios for these sponsorship deals. Why do that? If you're going to spend umpteen thousand pounds on someone, why not spend it on a person who has already proven capable of passing the exams/flight tests?

Is it a minimum of 135 hours for a CPL(H) now? Surely bunging 135 hours of additional training at someone who already has at least 135 can only turn out a better pilot?

Don't get me wrong, no sour grapes, I'm not thinking "why not me" (there are lots of reasons why not me! :-) ) I just have a mild sense that explicitly precluding trained pilots can't be the most cost-effective way of doing things.
