BBC documentary about the Met EC145's
Just for your info, I learned yesterday that the BBC are doing a documentary on the introduction of the EC145 into Police service with the Metropolitan Police from cradle to operational.
I don't know if they will screen it nationwide when the day comes or only in London. |
Oh, that Met! I wondered why someone would fly a 145 into the eye-wall of a hurricane. That would take some nerve.
|
I would love to do some cloud close ups. Hovering next to a nice cumulous should be fun.
|
Hi,
Do anybody has a picture of the new Ec145? Thanks in advance. best regards |
Pics of EC145
Any old EC145? or one in Met livery? This is one from Eurocopter site

Just imagine the one above in blue and yellow and you're there.
|
I believe the new Met helicopters will be shiny silver when they get them, just like their cars - apparently it is easier to sell them secondhand!:)
|
I wouldn't be so sure of that:) :)

The silver jam sandwich did not make the cut.
MPSA is still 'green' as they work their way through the wiring but the other pair MPSB and C are boring old blue and yellow but incomplete. In the end I think the wish to be different fell to the obvious. As these three are the aircraft most likely to be despatched to other parts of the UK to assist [as historically the old Bell's 222s used to] they would have to stray into uncontrolled airspace where they would need to be seen by such as the low and fast military. The Met got away with staying white with two of the three 355N's because they offered little in the way of extra ability to other forces and rarely left controlled airspace [occasional forays into Kent etc] but the 145s will undoubtedly be different. There is an image of a painted up EC145 G-MPSC on-line... but modesty and forum rules dictate that I cannot say where! |

Before...... http://www.etribes.com/sites/etribes...ges/G-MPSC.JPG After Flies like a dream! :ok: |
This may have been asked before but what's the thinking behind the winch?
|
So they can winch people.
Sorry, couldn't resist. |
They will be able to winch up doughnuts and coffee from cafes where they can't land!!!!!!
|
I suppose they will also be able to lower a bucket to collect bribes from unfortunate motorists!!!!!
Local pubs could also use the bucket to conduct inflight refuelling of the crew!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Ok, Mighty.....I walked right into that one didn't I!
|
This may have been asked before but what's the thinking behind the winch? |
i would have though the curry place here would be better and less green bits to land in http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...&keepicon=true shame they had to conform with all the other police aircraft, i am sure silver would have looked quite smart, it cant be for flight safety after all the new 109's at northolt are painted...... white with a jam sandwich stripe! |
Dunno about the jam sandwich stripe....what about a jam doughnut stripe?
|
Hanbury Street .... Hanbury Street, Shoreditch, E16 ..... :(
No if its got to be a Hanbury ... try Hanbury Manor ... the golf is good and I am sure they can knock up a passable curry... even if they resort to a packet Vesta Curry :} Landing on the 18th Green at Hanbury will be easier - especially after the problems recently faced by HEMS dropping into nasty London streets! No, I guess the Met ASU are leafy people... thats why they are still [just about] at Lippitts Hill! |
I saw the beasties today, two wrapped in lots of bubblewrap to save the paint. They look nice.
