AirCrane Transmission mounting
I'm making a model of Air Crane, and i have one thing bothering me. How is the main rotor transmission mounted on to the fuselage? Didn't find anything useful on the pictures and photos available to me.

No sh*t, Sherlock :E
Bolted directly to the frame or what? |
Bolts directly on to fuselage Three bolts at 12 oclock Three at 3 oclock Three at 6 oclock and 3 at 9 oclock, don't forget the 3 degree tilt to the left.
|
Thank you! 3° tilt to the left, i'll try to make that accurate. Any doublers on the airframe on the place where the trany is bolted?
|
The MGB is mounted in a square hole the lower portion protrudes through into the hell hole the mount itself if memory serves me are made up of castings or lift beams to which the deck plating if fixed

MGB mount
The MGB is bolted directly to 4 frames which form the "box" in the center of the fuselage similar to all other Sikorsky models. There is so much "stuff" around the gear box, I don't recall any doublers in the area....of course its also been 20 years since I last worked on the darn thing! We rebuilt the cranes destryed in the tornadoe in Windsor locks CT...send me a note with an e-mail address and I'll send you a few pictures.
