Phi

PHI News for those on this side of the pond. Or the other side depending what side of the road you drive on.

Tonights General Membership Meeting asked the members if it was time for a Strike Vote. The Strike Vote motion carried 100% from all members participating, coast to coast!

Havoc,

What's the issues at PHI that would provoke a strike? I heard you guys were happier than a Hooker when the Fleet was in port.

Something going on down there that we have not heard about?

You guys have mandatory overtime vice Air Log not....

ERA I hear is paying Double Time for work over....Air Log 1.75 times daily rate for workover...and Air Log is running 42-50 pilots short daily.

The latest rumbles I heard is that Air Log is finding it hard to accept the need for 14/14 rosters now....especially since the price of gas/petrol has gone up. ERA does that but has lost their discount air tickets with the sale of the airline in Alaska. Are the younger pilots leaving PHI for EMS jobs like they are at Air Log?

Air Methods pilots are beginning to talk strike too.....what is going on?

PHI issues

The main point appears to be economic, after 6 months of the unions proposal the company countered with a 3% from base of the expired contract retro to Apr 2005. The contract expired Apr 2004.

This site may give you an idea of industy wages

http://brian.hudson.home.mchsi.com/JobSites/jobs.htm

Maybe the breaking point: The company as of Sept 2005 has started hiring EMS pilots that meet CAMTS requirements at Level 5/6. The letter from the company stated it is managements right to hire at any wage despite hiring more experienced pilots at lesser wages. The company did offer to true up 60 pilots to level 5/6 but the union does not want a piece meal contract.

According to the union the negotiations have been ongoing for 23 months and see no reasonable effort from the company to resolve negotiations.

Additionally the company has hired contract pilots despite language in the contract that both parties agreed to against this process.

Lots of other things, Cost of living for EMS, bonus language, agency shop, 401K, per diem, vacation, life insurance and vacation issues.

The union has already petition for release from mediation. More to follow, I guess.

Good ol' Scotty is in AZ as of now. I believe he is lead pilot in Casagrande.
We originally hired on together back in '97 but I moved on to larger things (and more unyeldy than an Astar).:p
