Flying in a gazelle

Hello,

I’m a fixed wing PPL holder but would like to have a ‘trial flight’ in a helicopter. The thing is I’m quite specific as to what I want…. I’d like to fly a gazelle! Does anyone know where I can fly one for an hour o so? Do any schools use them? I’m based in Lincoln but don’t mind travelling.

Many thanks
GD

Excel charter at Stapleford. Ask for Stuart Smiley - one of the nicest guys in the industry.

Not your neck of the woods but if all else fails, try EBG or London Helis at Redhill

There's at least 5 based in Yorkshire so at least one must be contracted to a school on an ad hoc basis.

Martin Woods is MW Helicopters. Good place to start. They are Gazelle specialists and will be able to put you in touch with an instructor.
The instructor most often recommended in this forum when questions are asked about Gazelles is Al Gwilt - ex Blue Eagles, current TA Gazelle pilot, CPL, Examiner and Instructor, and a good guy.
I'm sure MW Helicopters will be able to put you in touch with him if you're interested.

I think I've seen Gazelles as an option on the Heilds Aviation website at Sherburn (may have been a while ago). Also recall Foremans Aviation ?? advertising about Gazelles (both Yorks addresses).

Again, it's not your neck of the woods, but you could try Bill Pitcher who is based in Bookham, Surrey. He is an instructor who owns his own gazelle. I have no idea if that makes his rates any cheaper.

PM me if you want his contact details

Chequair - Long Stratton. Just south of NWI.

As far as I know they own/owned several but usually only dusted them off for the GP.

:ok: You could not pick a nicer aircraft to go for your first fly in. A wonderful helicopter, if only more were like it.
