Flightsuit time, any recomendations?

Hi all!

Am about to get myself a flightsuit. No need to conform to any company policy, so what are your recomendations?

Pockets: Want lots of those in good places
Colour1: Not military green or brown.
Colour2: Is it better to go for a lighter colour, not to get too hot in summer or is it better with a darker colour so that the stains from the daily insp don't show up straight away?

All thoughts and experiences are welcome!

Regards

I like the new two piece, with separate pants and shirt if you can find them. I agree dark is better for stains, but worse for heat and sun. Another benefit for two piece is taking off the shirt when doing walk arounds if really hot, or taking a dump. Dark red or maroon works good for ems, not too hot or cold, hides stains and looks professional. Hope this helps.

Just out of interest,
What type of operations are you involved in?

SASless 7th Apr 2005 19:21

Tee-shirt, bush shorts, flip flops....golf visor, sunglasses, and headset.....pair of light cotton gloves for starts.

Cooler full of iced drinks....say Mike's Hard Lemonade....cranberry flavor.

SASless,

So you too wear the uniform of the American Bush Pilot!

From your writing style I hadn't pictured you as a conformist.

A Flightsuit, that would be nice. Been with the company for six months and still no flightsuit, gloves etc, still they have given me a nice shiny orange immersion suit!

I'll be doing photo-flights all summer in a 300 (wohooo, first job!). It'll be an around the week operation, so my reason for getting a flight suit is that I like to have lots of pockets and putting on the same outfit every morning makes it easier with the laundry-part, me thinks. Also when flying doors off it sometimes get too cold up here in the nordic region for the flip-flop routine. I'd rather be a bit warm than freezing. I'm thinking about a Sisley-suit, but they're manufactured in OZ, so does anybody have a name of a european manufacturer?

Sisley suits

Hard to go past Sisley and available in a range of colours and fabric density.

You can always put more clothes on under a 2 piece suit but a hot one piece is a pain in the b.m.

Yes I have worn some overseas one piece aramids!

2Beers,

Buying from Sisley should be the way to go: probably cheaper, with the South Pacific peso exchange rates! Search for previous threads, lots of info about this subject, but get a two piece with a spare pair of strides. They'll need washing more often than the jacket, although the aramid/FR viscose mix dries very quickly in warmer climes.
