Yep. No matter how the test goes, be prepared for a long and comprehensive 'de-brief'.
Regards, B73 |
You could always break the ice with Fred by mentioning Elephant herding in Kenya (Jan '92) and the Daily Mail. :ooh:
(Not a 'dirt story' by the way, just mention anagram!) |
1. look well ahead and pick a marker.
2. no more than 30* angle of bank. |
Fred is ok, if you want to wind him up to a full touch down auto with the stand it on its tail flare at about 30 ft, he just hates it ! He is a progressive flare man form 70 ft !
His idea of a confined area you would get all the RAF's Chinooks into. Just relax but don't go to sleep in the brief / debrief, He is most concerned about safety, make sure your pax briefing is very very good id you require to give one Best of luck |
My well rehearsed pax briefing conisisted of " when you get in, please.... " cut abruptly " just get in - it's cold out here." I didn't argue !!

Did mine recently.
His brief/de-brief are very comprehensive. His confined areas have got smaller, certainly couldn't have got a Chinook into the one he made me do. He does his best to put you at ease and once it's obvious you know what you're talking about he moves on to the next detail. Emergencies seemed to be his pet on my test. Make sure you've got the maximum fuel load so you don't have to go back to refuel, he'll give you the option to return but if the nav has gone OK it's better to carry on And don't forget to take the foggles! Good Luck and let us know how you get on :ok: |
Thanks for the tips guys, I'll let you know how I get on and leave some feedback for any other guys coming up to test:ok:
|
Proper brief:
Met, Notams, Licence, LASORS, Weight & Balance, Aircraft Tech Logs ALL PERFECT.. Know the aircraft preflight and passenger security breifing before you go out to the machine Flight ,not so bad, remember checks (FREDA< HASELL) and know rule 5 and required performance of you If your trainings good your confined area you've been taught will be a lot smaller than you will demonstrate Big de-brief afterward he will explain everything to you before hand, if you are not sure ASK ASK & ASK to make sure you understand............ Good luck H3:ok: |
And avoid flying up the edges of towns !! You'll get the noise nuisance bollocking otherwise - and don't forget - if the cloudbase doesn't feel right - make the decision not to go - he will NOT care. I refused to to 360 spot turns due to the high wind and I was commended for the decison afterwards ! Think SAFE SAFE SAFE !

IIRC, Fred's a real nice bloke. He wants you to pass.
Honest. |
SO WHAT HAPPENED????
So did you make Fred cross or not??
