UniCopter ~ Pictures & Drawing
If anyone is interested, this UniCopter page now has some pictures of the developing mockup and a layout drawing.
It is far from being a functional craft, but this does give a visual conceptualization of what the objective is. |
Dave, have you always had a pusher prop in the plans?
BTW, nice location. |
heedm,
You're correct, originally it didn't have a prop. The current objective is to design for the inclusion of all features that would contribute to an optimal 1 to 10-seat helicopter. The first prototype will only include some of them, but it will make provision for the remaining ones, as they are developed. |
dave
will the prop be feathered to hover, is there a clutch or doesnt it hover?
|
backberner,
The propeller will be directly coupled to the crankshaft of the engine. In addition, there is a sheave located between the engine and the propeller, which drives the rotors via a Robinson style of soft-start. It is a controllable pitch propeller, and during hover, it will provide no thrust. Its pitch setting is controlled by the forward portion of the longitudinal cyclic stick motion. There may not be a need for feathering. |
