Mix of correspondents??

Here on Rotorheads we seem to get a fine group of people and ladies, from all over the Western world and possibly 50% of those are from the Australia's,

Why no Froggys or Italians or Germans,

Does their skill and or humour not stretch to the same limits, as us Western thinking types.:ouch:

Matelot B'stard 27th Oct 2003 23:24

Frogs, wops and krauts... shining wits??

Lets face it they don't do funny, do they? nor do they do technical or skillful

examples funny? Marcel Marceau?? No.
Skillfull? Italian Rugby Union 15...No.
Technical? Fiat.. nuff said, No.

Funny.. Froggy Lorry Drivers.. No.
Skillful.. Donatella Versace.. No.
Technical.. Big smelly frankfurter sausages.. no.

Funny.. Jim Carey, American pornography.. Damn right!
Skillful.. David Beckham, The Red Arrows. you'd better believe it!!
Technical.. The internal combustion engine, the telephone, breast enhancement surgery.. oohh yeesss!!:p

rotordk 28th Oct 2003 00:33

If the Brits could deep fry orange juice for their breakfast, they would !

Now that's funny to the rest of us in mainland Europe !

Bright-Ling 28th Oct 2003 00:38

rotordk

you surely mean the "Sweaty socks!" (as we are on the subject of slagging other nations off!!)

misterbonkers 28th Oct 2003 00:57

urm, maybe its a language thing.

aussies, yanks, brits we all speak english (in some form)

rotordk 28th Oct 2003 01:54

I do prefer Italian food, and sweaty socks I tried and choked.
I do believe that IF they ( UK cooks ) could deep fry Orange juice or any liquid, they would. They do it with anything else that's for human consumption.
What's wrong with my English ?

;-)

Hilico 28th Oct 2003 02:55

I think they see posts like Matelot's, repress a shudder and pass on. "Don't do technical or skilful"? Mot much, they don't - Ferrari, Daimler-Benz, Rudolf Diesel, Eurocopter, most of Airbus, cordon bleu cookery, Renault F1 power in the 80s/90s, Porsche, numerous gliders...and if you've ever watched a German comedy program, even without subtitles, you'll realise how fall-down funny they can be.

And no, Rotordk, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your English - many foreigners (and all of them in this forum) write it indistinguishably from the natives.

rotordk 28th Oct 2003 04:13

Glad about my english being cultivated enough.
Over here in Europe main land we call fall-down funny for slapstick !! Or is that falling down THEN it's funny ?
Beside the point. My main objection to your post is:

Why would anyone ever want to watch a German comedy program ?

Hilico 28th Oct 2003 06:40

We were shown German TV programs when I was learning German at night school.

I suppose I should admit that the serious programs were also very very funny.

I should also admit that I'm still terrible at speaking German.

Matelot B'stard 28th Oct 2003 19:21

Chaps, Chaps, really..

Ferrari = Red Fiat = Junk, sexy, but Junk.

Porsche = too much focus on build quality, not enough on exhaust note, Boring!

Airbus = Toulouse should have a british post code

Diesel = should have been sent to siberia along with his infernal contraption, only tree hugging, single parent, save the whale, Green party extremists drive diesels.

German comedy??????? Contradiction in terms.

And as for cookery, if you haven't tried deep fried Mars bars then you haven't lived at all!!
:ok:

rotordk 28th Oct 2003 20:36

Thinking of German comedy........Siegfried and Roy are Germans !!

Happy Landing ! 28th Oct 2003 20:52

Matelot,

Are you the script writer for Jeremy Clarkson:ok:

Woolf 28th Oct 2003 20:54

Hey Matelot,

Maybe I should let you testdrive my Audi A6 2.5l Turbo Diesel - could be quite an eye opener for you ......

I do appreciate your humour but it has to be said: The Empire died long ago mate ......

:D

Woolf

Matelot B'stard 28th Oct 2003 21:34

Rotordk: Didn't their Tigers try and munch them last week?? I rest my case;)

Woolf: No I don't do scripts for Clarkson, I don't do Audi A6 turbo diesels either, thanks for the offer but I'll continue to live in the dark ages:ok:

As for the Empire.. no wonder the country's going to the dogs:E

Come on lads, we Brits have got it sorted, English Rugby team, Aston Martin, David Beckham, Bacon butties, decent beef (Are you paying attention France??) real beer, none of your "Eurofizz" girls shandy, Helena Bonham-Carter, Robbie Williams, Liz Hurley, McLaren F1, in fact F1 complete.

In short, Cars, beer, women, food.. oh and Concorde was our idea!! GREAT Britain:p

rotordk 28th Oct 2003 22:21

Wasn't that part of their show ? This comedy thing is more difficult than I thought.

Matelot B'stard 28th Oct 2003 22:48

Rotordk:

Re: my last post, if you are danish, then obviously you can ignore my comments about women and beer.. Danes appear to be up to speed on those issues, and if you are german, again I'll afford you the same concession old boy;)

Woolf 29th Oct 2003 00:07

Matelot, yeah looks like you've got it all sorted ........ Why is it then that ......

- the "Great" English Rugby team has never won the Rugby World Cup since it was introduced in 1987? (I actually looked this up on the official RWC website ;) )

- most other British car manufacturers are owned by the GERMANS? (apart from those that really can't be saved)

- David Beckham plays for Real?

- you have the highest heart related death rate? (see bacon butties)

- we have to go back to 1996 to find the last British F1 Champion? (and that was on a french car) Needles to say that "the German" together with his Italian mates domiate the F1 since 2000 .....

..... and I won't even mention beef, Helen Carter and especially not Robbie Williams .......

That just leaves Liz Hurley and Beer ....... sad really ...... God safe the Queen!

Woolf :D

(No offence to all the other Brits on this Forum! This is just in response to one individuals *edit* mild sense of humour *edit* :ok: )

Matelot B'stard 29th Oct 2003 00:33

Nasty Sense of patriotism or just mild humour in a business where too many people take themselves (And others!!) way too seriously;)

Incidentally, the German dominator's mates.. would that be Ross Brawn then? or the french car that won Damon the title, owned by Sir Frank and designed by Patrick Head and Adrian Newey?:ok:

As one journalist pointed out during one of Schuey's (Albeit rare)retirements... that smoking bit was designed by Fiat, the shiney Red bit was designed by Ross Brawn....

rotordk 29th Oct 2003 00:38

Highest heart related death rate !!
Somebody finally managed to deep fry Orange juice !!!

Dane alllll the way, but I do actually like German beer....come to think of it, I like Dutch beer too.... Japanese and Mexican beer seems rather good also......then there's Austrian beer....and wait....Australian beer.....American....Venezuelan... ...

Matelot B'stard 29th Oct 2003 00:40

Rotordk

Your knowledge of the world's beers for a pilot is alarming:O

Glad somebody out there isn't taking life too seriously:ok:
