Truly amazing they got it so right that it has stood the test of time for so long without being replaced by something better.

Sixty years of operation by an aircraft type is impressive, no doubt.
But what's more impressive is the B-52, where individual airframes are coming up on 60 years of operation.

All US Army CH-47D's except for 3 new builds started off life as an A, B, or C model & were still using the original airframes - still a few out there, 50+ years old now. Granted, not a lot else remained depending on what exact model it started off as.
