Great new book by Captain John E Stanwix

The friends of the late John E Stanwix have posthumously published his book on his life story. It is called “The Flying Bug – Diary of a Helicopter Pilot” by Captain John E Stanwix.

I managed to get a copy and it is fantastic.

It mentions so many people from the old days of Helicopter Utilities, including Bob Larder and Pat Long, and proprietor Peter Lloyd. It also includes a great segment on his flying in Antarctica.

There are lots of stories of the old days, including early helicopter flying in Australian and Papua New Guinea, and also his flying with Ansett helicopters at Proserpine in Queensland.

If anyone is interested in getting a copy, you can get it through the Tasmanian Aviation Historical Society, see here: https://tahs.org.au/product/the-flying-bug/
