Depending on whether you include reserve aircraft there are around 43 aircraft dedicated to HEMS/Air Ambulance.

I will include all aircraft types, not just Leonard or SAS aircraft.

Operators involved:-

1. Babcock
2. Specialist Aviation Services
3. Sloane
4. GAMA
5. Heli services International (HSI)

Those Air Ambulances with their own AOC:-

1. Devon Air Ambulance
2. London’s Air Ambulance
3. Yorkshire Air Ambulance

13 x H135
12 x H145
9 x AW169
4 x MD902
2 x AS365
2 x AW109
1 x Bell 429

Air Ambulance Northern Ireland - 1 x H135

Dorset Air Ambulance. - 1 x AW169

Not a UK organisation, but there is an Irish Community Air Ambulance, which is a Sloane AW109.

I hope that helps.
Missed Wiltshire off the AOC and name list (but not the aircraft list!). Also, Thames Valley apparently looking to setup with their own AOC based on recent job adverts.

Another question for members:

What helos and regions do The Air Ambulance Service operate aircraft for. Trying to finish off the illustrations for the UK EMS helos poster we are doing and getting down to the last ones.

Thanks

Hi Ned,

The Air Ambulance Service HEMS Aircraft cover

The counties of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire (Helimed 53), G-WNAS based at Coventry Airport.
The counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland (Helimed 54), G-DRLA based at East Midlands Airport.

And a dedicated spare, split between the two bases G-TAAS.

All are AW109SP .

VeeAny, would you happen to have any photos of the left hand side of the current paint schemes so we could use them to draw the illustrations. I looked online as seems to be a mix of photos out there so not sure what scheme is current.

One other question for all those here - do we include the S92 SAR helos in the UK and Ireland. Was advised that as well as doing SAR work they also do EMS flights ?

And we will also add on the Irish Defence Forces AW139.

Thanks for your help everyone - poster is not far away from being finished

Thats my question do we include the SAR helos as well. If we do would include 1 x AW189 and 1 x S92 from UK and the one S92 from Ireland. Unless there are other types as well.

I think the SAR aircraft inclusion is a good idea.

Latest and final update. Have just finished the UK and Ireland SAR helos to include. We have done illustrations of every HEMS and SAR machine in the UK and Ireland except the ones from The Air Ambulance Service. Asked them through their social media outlets if they could send us images of their latest aircraft with the latest paint scheme. Got fobbed off and told to contact marketing, emailed marketing no response to three emails so bugger them.

Will let everyone know when its all complete.

Appreciate the help from everyone in putting this together.

Ned,

Do you have any contacts at Sloane Helicopters? They were probably involved in the supply of the aircraft so may have the paint scheme on file.

FNW - The schemes and markings and aircraft have changed since they were first delivered. To me their attitude just showed me they had no interest in being part of the poster so happy to oblige

All the others look awesome though - and again a big thanks to everyone for helping me put the master list together of what to include.

This photo was taken of G-WNAS on 1/6/21 so I can only presume that it is the current paint scheme:
