Thanks and we will put one aircraft type on per operator but if they have two in different schemes such as Kent Surrey Sussex where they have two AW169s in different schemes we will endeavour to put them both. Should an operator have two different types of aircraft in their fleet we will also endeavour to include one of each such as an EC135 and EC145 or MD902 and AW169.

You missed out Northern Ireland and Great Western and I have both Warwickshire & Northants & Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland coming under the TAAS (The Air Ambulance Service) umbrella.

Open to clarification, but my understanding as follows:

Great North AA - 3 x AS365N2 (1 x Spare) & 1 x AS365N3+ - (G-NHAA, G-NHAB, G-NHAC & G-NHAD)

Great Western AA - EC135-T2+ - (G-GWAC)

Hants & Isle of White AA – EC135-T3 – (G-HIOW)

Lincs and Notts AA - AW169 – (G-LNAC)

London AA – 2 x MD902 (1 Spare) – (G-LNDN & G-EHMS)

MAGPAS AA - AW169 – (G-MGPS)

Midlands AA – 2 x EC135-T2/EC135-T2+ & 1 x EC145-T2 – (G-OMAA, G-HWAA & G-RMAA)

North West AA - 3 x EC135-T2 – (G-NWAA, G-NWAE, & G-NWEM)

Northern Ireland AA - 2 x EC135-T2 & EC135-T2+ - (G-NHEM & G-NIHM)

Interesting question from someone so far away.

Overview - 22 HEMS Charities or Commissioning Ambulance Service.

Depending on whether you include reserve aircraft there are around 43 aircraft dedicated to HEMS/Air Ambulance.

I will include all aircraft types, not just Leonard or SAS aircraft.

Operators involved:-

1. Babcock
2. Specialist Aviation Services
3. Sloane
4. GAMA
5. Heli services International (HSI)

Those Air Ambulances with their own AOC:-

1. Devon Air Ambulance
2. London’s Air Ambulance
3. Yorkshire Air Ambulance

13 x H135
12 x H145
9 x AW169
4 x MD902
2 x AS365
2 x AW109
1 x Bell 429

Air Ambulance Northern Ireland - 1 x H135
Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. - 1 x AW169, 1 x MD902
Devon Air Ambulance Trust - 1 x H145, 1 x H135
Dorset Air Ambulance. - 1 x AW169
East Anglian Air Ambulance - 2 x H145
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust - 1 x AW169, 1 x MD902
Great North Air Ambulance - 2 x AS365
Great West Air Ambulance - 1 x H135
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance - 1 x H135
Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance - 2 x AW169
Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. - 1 x AW169
London’s Air Ambulance - 2 x MD902
Magpas - 1 x AW169
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity - 1 x H145, 2 x H135
North West Air Ambulance - 3 x H135
Scotlands Charity Air Ambulance. - 2 x H135
Scottish Ambulance Service. - 2 x H145
The Air Ambulance Service - 2 x AW109
The Children’s Air Ambulance - 2 x AW169 (Inter hospital transfers, not primary HEMS)
Thames Valley Air Ambulance. - 1 x H135
Welsh Air Ambulance Charitable Trust - 3 x H145, 1 x H135
Yorkshire Air Ambulance. - 2 x H145

Not a UK organisation, but there is an Irish Community Air Ambulance, which is a Sloane AW109.

I hope that helps.

The Air Ambulance service now have 3 AW109s as of March this year, provided by Sloane.

G-WNAS at Coventry (Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance).
G-DRLA as East Midlands (Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance).
G-TAAS now the TAAS spare, which spends it's downtime mainly at Sywell.

Not UK but in the Republic of Ireland, we've also got
G-SHLS in Rathcool, County Cork, for the Irish Community Air Ambulance and as of last Friday
G-HEMZ also in Rathcool County Cork, for ICAA (with a very new and snazzy paint scheme).

Torque Split - Not really. Those that know me know that as well as publishing HeliOps magazine we also regularly do various posters showcasing operators and segments of the industry - example here:

Poster Example

We are going to do a poster showing the aircraft and operators involved in the EMS world in the UK and would also include Ireland. There will be an illustration of each aircraft type from each operator included - obviously if an operator has two types such as Wales Air Amb where they have a EC135 and an EC145 then both will be included. If an operator has two of one type such as 2 x EC135s we will only be including an illustration of one of them, not both.

NutLoose - Many thanks for those links. Couple of questions for members:

Does Cornwall still operate the MD902 as well as the AW169.

Are Devon operating both EC135 and also EC145

Are Essex & Herts running both the MD902 and the AW169

No Dorset just on AW-169.

Also Wales have G-WASC at Dafen (making 3 H145 plus 1 EC135 for Wales)
