If you bothered to look into this properly you would find out you are incorrect here.I drove yesterday due to weather, flying today though, easy booking process and variable liability limits. They have my support. You all need to stop whingeing and living in the past and start supporting our industry.

Sounds like everyone is enjoying it then ? Visitors and exhibitors ?

I suppose it is all down to what you want to see, the Helicopters or technology etc. I prefer to see the helicopters and would be very disappointed if I went to an airshow and there were no aircraft. Aero Expo... now thats great

It certainly appeared smaller and quieter than previous. But some people I spoke before said they would see what this like before going to next one!. Personally I achieved as much as I would have expected, I couldn't go for full day. Managed to meet those I set out.

I think the OEM boycott also affected some of the smaller manufacturers. I would have liked to see more.

Only serious IFR were going to get in yesterday due to weather, so difficult to compare with Duxford fly in ability.

As this is the only UK show of this type it looks like support it or lose it. If the EHA do organise a European show it probably won't have any fly in eithe, only ac trucked in so major OEM only.

i preferred this venue to Duxford and Excel, just needed more support from industry.

I was there Wednesday and it was quiet, very quiet. But quiet shows can do business even though quite clearly not all the exhibitors were happy with their lot. I was busy for quite a few hours but would normally do at least two full days there when it was at ExCel/Duxford/Redhill.

As for tyre kickers, they were certainly disappointed - but as we know these events are not about how many airframes there are on the ground [one R22, one R66 and two R44 inside plus 2 quadcopters inside and one coastguard aircraft outside]. From my point of view it severely restricted the photo opportunities that might lead to an interesting write up that might entice more exhibitors to attend in the future. After all the furore put up by people on here not being able to attend Helitech because it was off airfield [ExCel] the organisers take it out into aviation territory and no-one flies in! Yes, I read the reason why above but it makes it no less palatable.

Certainly mixed opinions among exhibitors who ended up talking amongst themselves. Again not necessarily a bad thing.

Some odd rumours about 2020 including "Aberdeen in September" ..... That rumour was not researched simply because if the exhibitors this years were not happy overall with their lot there will be no Vertical Flight anywhere. Few of the exhibitors will have known the total worth of the event until this afternoon so the jury is still out. There is no such thing as a bad show unless it is difficult to get to and much too expensive. Money is the decider.

Another rumour to chew over is that Reed the organisers prefer not to use temporary buildings and that is why they rejected Duxford and will not take up with several other venues. Odd that because this year Vertical Flight was held in one of the few 'proper' buildings at Farnborough and right alongside the bases for dozens of the temporary buildings that the Air Show is famous for using.

I can only tell you my experience and I wasn't a moaner prior to this event.

They certainly didn't make it 'easy' to fly in.. In order to fly in you needed to give info like qualifications, type and registration (all fine with that) to the outfit arranging the flying for the event. Once submitted, you were to be sent an indemnity (never received, so can't comment on the £20m liability limit but) which had to be signed by your insurer. What has happened to a copy of your certificate being sufficient?

Then, once all that was done, you had to obtain PPR 24 hours in advance of your intended visit directly from TAG Farnborough. And only then would you be sent joining instructions.

Maybe I am unrealistic but I couldn't be bothered, especially when I was never sent the indemnity.
