Author looking for information

Hi all,
I'm an author and I was hoping to talk to a professional about some specific helicopter scenarios I've used in a book. They involve engine failure during flight and what would happen in that situation. General information about piloting would also be appreciated.
If anyone would like to help, I can be contacted through [email protected]
Many thanks!!

Hi all again!
I've had several amazing responses to my request and I'm all set with the correct information now.
Thank you to everyone here and to the people who helped me out. I will definitely offer copies of the book to anyone who wishes in thanks, once it's finalised and released, which won't be for several months at the soonest.
Many cheers!!

PS Paco, what sort of soundtrack are talking about here?

They never get the soundtrack right in the movies.... Mind you, they did in Die Hard and Apocalypse Now

My point is, nothing puts you off a movie or a book when they don't get the facts right - but it looks as if you are on the right track.

I even saw a book where the hero's name was Del CapsLock - didn't make much effort there

It's always a special treat when a movie or TV show includes the actual sound of the helicopter on screen. So rare.

On the same subject,
even worse than a "Huey" sound track on an EC135 flyby video is when they modulate the sound to make it sound like a helicopter is variable RPM machine.

So when you say soundtrack you aren't talking about Ride of the Valkyries?? When the book gets optioned for a movie, I'll be sure to write it into the contract that they use real helicopter sound.

I think I've worked out an appropriate, and correct, scenario for the book now, and I can assure you my character names are way better than Del Capslock.

How about sharing some paragraphs here? You might get some of us to buy it! There's nothing more distracting than details that are just wrong. Especially in movies. Twin Huey turning into a single, or worse a Jet Ranger, wrong shadow, wrong soundtrack. Only yesterday I paused the A-team when Hannibals 1911 suddenly turned into a Smith&Wesson..

Even if it's 5' away, if the camera doesn't see it, there ain't no noise. If it IS visible, give it the basic B47 sound, nobody will notice....
